Is this hell? Oh it's a coffee shop?
by TankasaurusFlex
Do you enjoy awful service, terrible food, and long wait times for your food? Then go to Sitwells. There is nothing redeeming or good about this restaurant. They are too cheap to hire both servers and cooks, so you wait around forever for your food. Because of this, your server is a stressed out mess who is 2 seconds away from going postal all over the 10 tables she has to wait on. Seriously, if I had to choose between get water boarded or going to sitwells, I would say "flip the gallon bucket".
- Pros: They don't stick fish hooks in your eyes.
- Cons: Everything
Owner/Manager Makes It Intolerable
by StevenDH
I was visiting from NYC and remembered having seen this place on a previous visit. I had a lot of work to do and they had wi-fi so I decided to stay for a couple of hours. The service was great and the coffee was good (and cheap). HOWEVER, the owner was SO loud and abrasive to her employees, it made the atmosphere very unpleasant.
After not being able to stand her ranting and raving and barking orders at her employees, I finally went to leave. Unknown to me, she was leaving as well and as I was getting to my car - I heard her gravely, loud, spent voice yell over to me and let me know how rude it was for me to take up 2 parking spaces and then she proceeded to call me an "a$$hole", who "didn't belong in the neighborhood". I tried to explain I was concerned about getting a ticket for parking too close to the corner ( a law in a lot of places) but she said "no one is listening a$$hole" and to "get out of our neighborhood". Classy.
Whoever she is, whether its the meth/heroine/crack and/or LSD she is currently on OR has abused in the past, it has resulted in a very nasty and unkind person. She is a troll. Needless to say I won't go back.
- Pros: Cheap Iced Coffee - Nice Server
- Cons: The Cracked Out Rude Owner
What a dump Stillwells has become...its awful
by BethBBauer
We went to Sitwells to hear Katie Laur's band play. The band was great but the owner of the place was so rude and mean to people we ended up just leaving. I heard a rumor that she tried to get the band to give her the tips that people tossed into the guitar case. I hope thats not true but if it is, she should be ashamed and everyone should demand the money back...the food we ordered was also just awful. We ended up throwing it away after paying $12 for two coffee's. How can you mess up a couple of coffees so badly. She tried to sit 3 people down at our little one person table. When we complained that she was creating a fire trap she said, just get out of here. So we did. What a dump this place has become and it doesn't look like it is going to get any better.
- Pros: near the Esquire
- Cons: rude owner, poor food, poor coffee, poor product
Whatever happened to Sitwell's?
by firecrackersmile
Whatever happened to Sitwell's?I went into Sitwell's yesterday for a large Mocha , and walked out with a luke warm coffee to start my day off.The service used to be kickin! The energy was good in the morning .Now, when I walk in ,I see the Manager/owner being rude to employees and customers.Bad-Bad-Bad!!!!The food is not as good as it used to be.Expensive and lacking in something.Id rather go to the highland coffee house , where the service is friendly.
- Pros: eclectic menu, good location
- Cons: rude manager, bad energy, service is lacking
Just Plain Uncomfortable
by AmberBamber
I don't know what's gotten into this place in the past month, but it's gone downhill. It was closed for about a week or so, for some reason, around Labor Day and ever since it's reopened every experience I've had as been...uncomfortable.
I live right around the corner, so I frequent the place. My experience this morning is a good example of what this place has to offer.
I walked in to order an iced mocha and an egg sandwich with cheese, green peppers, and onions. What I got when I left was a disgusting iced coffee (no cream, whipped cream, chocolate...and oh, by the way, it was $4.50...) and an egg sandwich with just egg and tomato. The whole thing cost a ridiculous $10.00, which did not correlate with what the menu said.
The owner (the lady that's in there all the time) is mean. She's short with customers, and loudly rude and bossy to her employees. As a customer, I felt very uncomfortable, so much so that I didn't want to confront her about the nasty mocha and wrong-order sandwich.
I ended up trashing everything on the way out the door and going to Graeter's instead. Not as cool as an atmosphere, and not as eclectic a menu, but it was calm, comfortable, and they got the coffee right.
Unless this place changes soon, I will not be returning. And I know others who feel the same way.
- Pros: atmosphere, food is great, free internet
- Cons: mean boss, unknowledgable staff, wrong orders, waaaaaay overpriced
