Ideal Gown Shopping Experience

by RochelleRochelle at Citysearch

My mom and I were assigned to Rachel in the salon at European Bridal (in Nov. 2004). It was so much fun. Rachel was incredibly kind, patient, and insightful. I loved the dresses she selected for me and when I was having a hard time deciding between two at the end, she did not pressure me in the least. The personal attention and the airy charm of the salon made the whole experience truly wonderful. (We did try a much bigger, more impersonal bridal shop across the way as well, but didn't last very long there.) Thank you, Rachel!

  • Pros: Excellent, professional, personal service. (Ask for Rachel if she's still there.)
  • Cons: None!

Rude, Pushy, Same dresses MUCH less elsewhere

by Judge10 at Citysearch

This review is based on my experience at EB with sales associate BETH. I want to make this very clear because based on my experience with her I will never support or be back to European Bridal. I am going to try and be brief but the list could go on and on.

When I arrived for my appointment at EB I brought my mom and dad. Beth was shocked that I brought both parents and acted as if they were going to be an interference in my experience. She led us upstairs to start looking but asked if my parents would sit down and she would pull gowns she felt would be best on me. After pulling 3 gowns (one was something close to what I described I wanted; the other two weren't even close) she took me to the fitting room and asked me to try them on. I felt like I didn't have the freedom to go look myself and even after I asked to look, she told me that she's already shown me everything that I described I wanted. Literally after EVERY gown I tried on, she'd say "do you love it?" or "so is this the one?" I simply was not getting that feeling about any of the gowns that I had tried on and every bride knows they want the "this is it" factor. Once we were back into the dressing room, she whispered to me that I really needed to come back without my parents so I could make my OWN decision! I was appalled at this comment- they were being more than supportive and giving their opinion about gowns just like anyone else would. She also said that it bothers her when brides bring people along because it influences them to make the wrong decision.

After some further looking downstairs, I found a gown that had "ok" feelings about. She kept saying, "You're going to have to make a decision sooner or later. This is your gown. Are you ready to do this? You're a bride that just needs to go for it and fall in love with it later!" I was shocked! She was literally trying to convince me to by a gown that she knew I wasn't in love with. Any good sales associate would acknowledge how important (and expensive) this decision is and not try to just get a sale. When I made a decision not to go for the gown right then and think about it, she said "ok, well you can show yourself out the door."

Beth has poor judgment on what looks good on a bride. I am a petite and small framed woman that needed a fitted gown. Because EB didn't have what I was looking for, Beth was trying to force me into a mold all of the sake of a sale. When I refused to commit, she was rude. Her appearance was sloppy and at one point she pulled the bridal hair jewelry out of her hair and put it in mine! All while there were still black strands of hair hanging from the clips. I was disgusted with how unprofessional she was in front of and behind my parents back. Last piece of information, the prices of their gowns and exceed up to $1,000 over what another store might sell the same gown for. I have a friend that purchased a gown for $3,400 at one bridal store- EB selling it for $4,400- $1,000 difference for a LeeAnn Belter!

**Go to Lillian's in Dayton, Ohio (located in Swiss Village) or Fabulous Bridal in Covington, KY. All sales associates are amazing at both stores.

  • Pros: Good Designer Gowns
  • Cons: Felt forced, not good listeners

Pushy and Overpriced

by Sukibelle at Citysearch

I made the mistake of buying a dress from this shop. I stopped in while I was in Cincinnati for a business trip just to look around and get some ideas. I ended up finding a dress that I really liked and probably would have bought, but the saleswoman (Connie) was so pushy that I ended up walking out. She called a week later to tell me the dress was "on sale" through the weekend for $1850 from $2200, and so I caved and ordered it from her, against my better judgment. I ended up having to get the dress shortened at another bridal shop that sells it closer to where I live and was told that if it had been ordered hollow to hem I wouldn't have needed to get it shortened. I decided to call and let Connie know that she should tell customers of that option (she didn't tell me), and she proceeded to lie to me that because I'm taller than 5'3" that this was impossible. I verified with the shop where it's being altered that there was no height cutoff. And the "sale" that I bought the dress on? Again, I checked with the shop I am getting it altered at and they are selling it regularly priced for $100 less!

  • Pros: Nice dresses
  • Cons: Rude, pushy saleswoman and overpriced dresses

Like two stores in one, for brides of all budgets.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
This bridal boutique is split into two levels. Upstairs, all of the gowns are from Europe, and reflect their origins in style, quality and price. Downstairs is less glamorous, but if she's lucky, the bargain-hunting bride will find one of the upstairs gowns discontinued. It's possible to sail out of the store with a $2,000 dress for a mere $500. Bridesmaids dresses are also located on the first floor.

European Bridal 2 thumbs way up!!!!

by 516 at Citysearch

There are no stores that compare to European Bridal. We came from Lexington, Ky. and found the service exemplary. At other stores we received a hard sell, but here my daughter was asked about her vision of her wedding, her likes and dislikes of various styles and was asked to tell our consultant how best to describe her personality. The perfect dress was found with the veil and head piece. The dresses were never just thrown on the hangers or on the ground as in some other stores where it was more like a Bridal Warehouse. We can't imagine a more pleasurable and satisfied experience. Every accessory was carefully chosen by Suzi and her creative touch makes her outstanding in her profession! Don't miss this store!!
