Very rude staff!!
by feldkampalysha
Very over priced for low quality of food and the workers are dirty and rude.
Good reliable breakfast, but costly
by Macarooz
I have been going to the Echo for years. Owners have switched hands I understand, but the food has remained consistent. Service is good for the most part, and it may be a Hyde Park scene these days, but I still enjoy going in and sitting on the cramped counter seats,,,(I am 6' 4")
It has become pricey to eat here, but with gas at 4 bucks a gallon, it is becoming pricey to eay anywhere. I would still recommend ECHO over Bob Evans or any chain, any day.
Disappointed
by wholtone
I read some glowing reviews of this place so I had high expectations. However, once we were seated for lunch it was downhill from there. First, the service was horrible. It was almost like the waitress was going out of her way to ignore us, but there was hardly even anyone there! (I could have understood if it was busy, but we sat right at the counter.) I was hoping the food would make up for it, but it was really just your average, everyday, i-could-cook-something-tastier-than -this, fare. The only notable thing about the inside was the "melting clock" they have on the wall.
Are you kidding

What a joke, the only reason people eat here is the ?Hyde Park? scene. This is a greasy diner that should have closed years ago. The service is what you would expect, ?what do you want to order? and ?here is your bill?. The food is years ahead of its time, maybe 1962! Sausage gravy!!,, or flour and water not sure what to call it. I ate there today and paid $16.50 for (4) eggs (2) English burnt muffins and (2) sausage patties that were cooked six hours ago!! I guess the charm of this place must reside in the fact that people have been eating here for years and don?t know or expect any better. Another Cincinnati culinary staple I guess.
Classic old diner feel

We try to pop into Echo at least once a month- their omletes nurse hang-overs fabulously and the servers are always cheerful ladies with a lot of charm. There is always an avaliable copy of the day's newspaper and you're guaranteed to recognize at least one smiling face at the bar. Service is quick and attentive. Although I have only gone for breakfast, the menu has great home cooking and it is always an enjoyable and comforting experience.
- Pros: Quick service, friendly, comfortable
- Cons: For a casual atmosphere, breakfast can run up to $15-20, parking, waiting on weekend mornings
Quick, cheap and friendly, this Hyde Park favorite serves delicious home-cooking guaranteed to soothe the soul.

In Short
A neighborhood favorite since opening in 1945, it hasn't changed much over the years. Two long counters are surrounded by floor-mounted swivel chairs and booths. Basic breakfasts like omelettes and French toast are served all day. Sandwich platters include fries and coleslaw. Dinner items, offered after 11am, include turkey breast with dressing and gravy and chicken tenders. Jell-O and applesauce are offered as sides. It's quick and cheap, and sometimes local celebrities drop in.
GREAT breakfast!!

the breakfast food is great, avoid the BB-Q sandwich, everything else is a-ok.
- Pros: Breakfast!!
Friday Fish
by skyegirl
Friday is a must! Every Friday the Echo serves the best fish sandwich in the area. Get there early....the fish sells out often!
- Pros: Service - Friendly, Friday Fish - Best!!
- Cons: Parking can be bad
Well what can I say
by donjuan
The problem with this place isn't the food because the food is decent. Its the portions.....can you say small.....i could understand portions being so small if they were charging $3-4 for the entire meal. But by the time you order your food, drink and throw down a tip you're easilt blowing 10-15 per person, and when you leave you have to eat 1 hour later!
- Pros: food
- Cons: amount of food
Fast and Furious
by krista7519
Echo has the best egg and cheese sandwiches. It only takes about five minutes no matter how busy. The great thing is that the same lady has served them for the last twenty years. If you are in a hurry....this is the place to go for quality, price, and speed.
- Pros: Inexepnsive, good service
