See what makes Ohio the coaster capital of the world.

by Contributor

In Short
While everyone from thrill-seeking adults to their children notice the Eiffel Tower first, it's the Beast, the world's longest wooden roller coaster, which prompts the most awe. Other attractions include Drop Zone, called "the world's tallest gyro drop," and Face/Off, a face-to-face inverted roller coaster. Little ones love Hanna-Barbera Land; older kids hit Nickelodeon Splat City, featuring the Rugrats and the haunted Shriek House. For the hot Cincinnati summer, there's Waterworks, the 30-acre water park.

Over all My favorite park!

by coasterguy

I'm from Orlando, Fl and I use to work for a company that designs Themed Parks and Themed Resorts. Now I just enjoy going to parks across the country I've been to just about every one. Kings Island has something for everyone. A top notch water park, An incredible Childrens area, Mild, Wild to extreme thrill rides, ranked 2nd to Cedar Point for most Roller Coasters. The Park has always been clean and staff friendly. The Beast In my opinion is the best ride in the world especially when you ride it at night! Son of the Beast is one of the scariest and from day one roughest coasters I've ever ridden.

Through out Kings Islands History the Park has been innovators of many coasters and childrens themed rides. The Taft Corporation Bought Coney Island amusement park in the 60's to help promote their Hanna Barbara cartoons and characters and moved the Park from the Banks of the often flooded Ohio to 20 miles north of Cincinnati. They made the first suspended Coaster the Bat in the early 80's (Removed due to structural problems) Vortex is built where it used to be, Vortex held the world record for most inversions, One of the Racers was the first backwards coaster (that I know of). King Cobra was the first Stand up coaster, Fight of Fear was the first linier induction launch coaster. And so on and so on

Over all I think Its a great Park!!

  • Pros: Best Rides anywhere.
  • Cons: Que lines can be long. (all top parks have lines)

Best Amusement Park ANYWHERE

by erika_jean02

I;m in my 20s and I've been going to PKI since I was three. I've had a season pass since I was old enough to need one. PKI is by far THE BEST amusement park I've been to(and I've done PKI, Carrowinds, King's Dominion, Cedar Point, Kentucky Kingdom, Busch Gardens, Disney World, and all of the Universal Studios parks). Yes, the lines can be long, but if you go Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, you will walk onto almost every ride. If you plan on visiting more than once, buy a season pass. You get into all of the other Paramount Parks(such as Carrowinds and King's Dominion) for FREE and worth the $90. The gold passes are very helpful, too, because the preferred parking is fifty times better than the(what felt like) miles of walking I used to do before gold passes. You get double rides on some rides and early ride times on most rides.

The roller coasters are some of the best I've ever been on--the Beast is close to the top of my list(Cedar Point's Millenium Force barely makes number one) and Top Gun, even though smaller has always been one of my favorites. The Vortex is a classic(and even on the busiest of days, a relatively shorter wait). The Son of Beast is great, but will almost definitely give you a headache, so take an aspirin before you get on the ride. The Racer has a lot of history behind it, so it's always a must-ride for me. My 6-year old loves the Racer and Top Gun--they're fast but very kid-friendly roller coasters. The kid's park is pretty decent--the new Avatar and Plankton's Plunge rides are the best kiddie rides I've ever been on. Very kid-friendly. The waterpark is pretty worth it(although the Beach one mile down the road from PKI is much better) and has a lot to offer children. I don't really go the waterpark much because the lines there never seem to diminish--EVER. You're pretty lucky if you find a beach chair and ride a few rides in two hours on a nice day at Boomerang Bay.

Otherwise, PKI is the best for dry rides! Everyone should try it once.

  • Pros: Clean, safe, fun
  • Cons: Long lines on weekends, always long lines at Boomerang Bay

Best coaster park anywhere!

by baudav

It was like a neverending rollercoaster dreamland! I couldn't believe it. Everyone better than the last. We went in October, so it was cool and not very busy. The Beast was a blast and the Son of the Beast looked like a little too much...

We bought tickets online for a sharp discount FROM THE KI WEBSITE.

  • Pros: BEST, RIDES, EVER!
  • Cons: Park cleanliness?

Best Family Park

by bkmommy

I have been going to Kings Island for over 20 years and somehow it just keeps getting better. They have a great selection of rides with both costers and less intense rides. My children (2 & 4) love all the rides in Hannah Barbara Land. The lines can be long in the summer so if you can go on the weekdays thats your best bet. Just a tip to save a little money, in Hannah Barbara close to the restrooms you can by a chicken finger kids meal for $4 and they give you enough food to fill up an adult. Also there are several restaurants close to the park but make sure you get a reentry parking ticket and your hand stamped if you do leave.

  • Pros: Safe, Clean , Great Rides & Shows, Good Season Pass Valu
  • Cons: Expensive Parking, Two many games
