I disagree with first reviewer. I am from Michigan and was in Florence working and plan to move there. I was visiting local gyms. I went into fitworks and the staff was friendly and curteous. And never did I feel pressured at all. I recieved a great tour, and lots of info. The trainer spent a good 15 minutes with my wife and I. The prices were great compared to what we pay here in Michigan considering what is offered. I especially liked the movie theater excercise experience, that was awesome. Only thing negative I noticed were the lack of tanning beds. My current gym has two beds and two hex's, while fitworks has only 1 hex, and no beds. however the rest of the facility was great. Not the biggest but very adequate. we were there during mid afternoon and it didnt seem too busy. When my wife and I move to the area we plan to join fitworks. Urban Fitness was being built while we were there so I cant yet compare that.

Pros: Naudilus equipment, tons of free weights, movie theater, message chairs

Cons: only 1 tanning hex, and no beds

I am currently comparing several area exercise facilities, and Fitworks is among those in which I've had an interest. They had a 14-Day Free Trial offer on their website. I stopped by the Florence Fitworks last night, and attempted to activate my 14 day free trial. Unfortunately, I was met with high pressure tactics to get me to sign a contract immediately, and told that if I were to use the "free" trial, it would cost me an additional $140 in signup fees. I could avoid those signup fees by signing up on the spot. I detest and resent that sort of bait-and-switch tactic, along with the extremely high pressure sales pitch. It's left a bad taste in my mouth where Fitworks is concerned. It has made my decision a little easier, as it's removed Fitworks from my list of potential facilities.
