Traumatizes Children
by KPKPKP
The first thing I will say is that if you want your child to have a major lifelong fear of the dentist, Dr. Gordon is the dentist to take them to! I took my son to Dr. Gordon in Maineville for a few years for his regular checkups. I thought he would be a good dentist to take him to because he works with handicapped kids. My son isn't handicapped but I believed he would be gentle and talk my son through the visit. At the beginning of our first visit, I had to sign a form stating that Dr. Gordon may need to use devices such as mouth clamps, arm/leg straps, etc. I thought it was odd, but I signed it anyway. Every time my son went in for his regular cleanings, Dr. Gordon would use a mouth clamp on my son. My son would cry and choke when he used the clamp. The last visit we went to, Dr. Gordon had one of his assistants hold his face still, another assistant hold his legs, and he made me hold his arms all while he is sobbing uncontrollably! I felt awful! After he was done with the cleaning, he had the nerve to state that my son needs to be checked out for behavioral issues. Well of course he has issues...you've traumatized him! Dr. Gordon had my son so fearful to go in for a checkup that I couldn't even mention that he was going to the dentist without him sobbing uncontrollably. We now go to Dr. Gennantonio (he's AWESOME!) and he and his staff take the time to talk my son through the procedures and make him feel at ease. Dr. Gennantonio is so good, he doesn't have to use a clamp. Imagine that!
- Pros: NONE
- Cons: Rude, doesn't know how to interact with kids, rough

We only went to Dr. Gordon b/c he was the only pediatric dentist in our network within 50 miles! My son was 3 when we started going to Dr. Gordon and has sensory issues along with an extreme phobia of any type of doctor. He is scared to death anytime we are in a Dr. office. When we first went to Dr. Gordon he told us our son needed dental work and that he would have to be hospitalized b/c he was so young and wouldnt sit still it ended up costing us over $700! In addition he has a horrible bed side manner he didnt talk to my son and try to ease him through this scary experience he just pulled his mouth back and started working, my husband who took him even said that he knew it had to be scary for a 3 year old. Then just this past week my son had to be hospitalized AGAIN for more dental work and he put two silver caps on my son 2 teeth in the front of his mouth! He did put a white covering over the front but you can still see the silver by his gum line and it makes it look like his teeth are dead! I pay all this money for my son to have a good smile not for him to be a target for kids to make fun of him. I have paid close to 2k on his teeth already at the age of 4 I certainly would have paid a little extra for the white caps they have now. Some told me to get a 2nd opinion when they found out how much money we were spending but now that I have read the rest of these reviews we definantly will get a 2nd opinion!
Worst Dentist Ever (my opinion)
by scarpenter1
I would not recommend Dr. Gordon,
My daughter who was 7 at the time had to have silver crowns put on her teeth for 2 cavities. Dr. Gordon started working on her and she was not all the way numb, so she started crying, and he told her to shut up, then he started to put the crown on and she started screaming and trying to get away, because she was in so much pain, and he had his assistant come in and hold her down, and told her to shut up or he was going to kick her out of the room, while he hammered the crown on her tooth!
She would not eat and all she did was cry for 2 weeks after that, in pain with her mouth, so I took her to see her pediatrician who had to put her on a antibiotic mouth wash, and referred her to see a new dentist!
The new dentist had to scrap cement out from under her gums, which was causing the infection, and making it swollen, and red! We were told by the new dentist that she is lucky she will not have permanent gum damage, since he ripped the gum trying to make the cap fit!
My daughter is not handicap, and he was very rude to her, makes me wonder what he does with other children who can not speak there minds, since he states he is great with mentally and physically handicap kids! That?s one of the reasons I went to him, because I figured if he had patience to work with them, then he could handle my 7 year old daughter!
I would not recommend Dr. Gordon.

I would not recommend Dr.Gordon but it is not because of the office staff or his personality.
I thought everyone was okay. The problem is Dr. Gordon reffered my 7 year old son to an
Orthodontist. Both Dr. Gordon and this Orthodontist were adamant that my son needed extensive and
expensive work done. Feeling overwhelmed,my husband and I went for a second opinion. Surprise .....
He does not need this work done. I am dissapointed because Dr. Gordon made it seem like this work
was needed ASAP as did the Orthodontist he "reffered"me to see. I will not be taking my children back to
Dr.Gordon. Please get a second opinion.
Pediatric doesn't mean kid-friendly!

Very simply put- just because a physician is "IN NETWORK" does not make them the best to go to. Dr Gordon is a perfect example of this. Though his credentials state pediatric, there is absolutely nothing "pro-child" about him. He uses heavy sedation on most young children which is typically NEVER covered & exceeds hundreds of $. If you refuse, he tells you if your child begins to fight he will refuse to treat them/ he did this to us. My child started to wake up and he called my name (I was sitting close to him) & Dr Gordon gruffly told me to shut my mouth after I was trying to tell my son it would be ok. I watched him with other kids - he pushed them back down in chair, told mom's to lay on kid's legs to hold them still, & even huffing & puffing in frustration if they wouldn't "behave!" I heard him tell on older child "this is nothing-you are overreacting & need to stop it" Our kids were seen & we vowed NEVER to return. I would gladly pay top dollar see an out of network MD, to prevent the trauma a child appears to leave with once he sees them. My sedated son had no memory of the trip but was very ill when he woke for remainder of day. My older son begged not to return- enough said!
- Pros: in network- but doesn't mean he doesn't have sedation (hi $) costs
- Cons: everything else possible- esp the way the kids are handled- NOT A PEDIATRIC dentist by techniques only credentials.
Dr Gordon has a horrible bed side manner!
by dylanangel75
The receptionists where very nice but that's where it ended. Dr Gordon is not very nice even though he is working with children and fears that they may have. He did not make my 4 year old son very comfortable and this was his first visit. He did not like me asking about my 7 year old needing braces because not all of his teeth were in yet. I was pregnant at the time of the visit and was not told that I should not be in the back room. I read that AFTER the appointment. I have switched dentists and they refuse to give me my X-Rays that MY insurance company paid for! I would NOT recommend him.
- Pros: The receptionists were nice
- Cons: Dr is not very nice and the office looks dirty
HORRIBLE DENTIST! DR. MICHAEL GORDON
by motherof4
Dr. Michael Gordon and his staff are very nasty people. My husband , my children and I have had several very unpleasant experiences with Dr. Michael Gordon and his receptionist. Stay away from this horrible doctor. They are not good with children, their office is cramped an out of date, they are rude and they refused to give us our x-rays when we switched dentists. Dr. Michael Gordon has a terrible manner with children, he is gruff and makes rude comments to the children. DO NOT GO TO DR. MICHAEL GORDON! You will regret it. We only went to Dr. Michael Gordon, three times, because he took our Dental insurance. It is worth the extra money to go to a nice dentist.
- Pros: none
- Cons: horrible manners of doctor and staff, horrible dirty outdated office,
HORRIBLE DENTIST!!!
by tfreson
Dr. Gordon is a horrible pedatric dentist. He has 0 tact and does not know how to deal with children. This was her first dental appt. She was a little shy but dr gordon told me that I do not brush her teeth and she will have 10-12 cavities in 6 months. We both left the office in tears. We are now going to see a different dentist next month... DO NOT GO TO DOCTOR GORDON!!!
- Pros: Office staff
- Cons: Wait time
Awsome

Doc Gordon was a great with my two little girls. One is 3 the other 2. They both have soft teeth and one had bottle mouth. He was nice in his conversation with them and the staff was very informative to me and helped in everyway they could. They gave me upfront cost and they where kid friendly. My boys are 11 and 7 and they did not dread going to the Dentist one had a tooth pulled and a silver cap and he is still okay about going to the dentist. They all smile at Doc Gordon.
Horrible!
by ninjamonkey
I took my son to his first dentist appt w/ Dr. Gordon. Being his first visit to a dentist, my son was naturally timid. Dr. Gordon & staff were curt with my son, even going so far to tell him he was faking it when he began to cry and telling him to knock it off. Despite being a pediatric dentist, Dr. Gordon has absolutely zero tact with kids at all. He seems to be in it mainly for the money (missing a visit will cost you an outrageous $75) and even recommended braces for my son- who was 4 YEARS OLD at the time. I'm not a dentist, but even I know that it's pointless to recommend braces for a kid who didn't even have his first adult tooth. I suggest finding a better dentist!
- Pros: Cool video games
- Cons: Horrible with kids, Expensive, Long wait
