Editorial Review for Friendly Stop Cafe – by BJ Parker
In Short
The barn-wood interior, decorated by historic license plates from all 50 states, advertising signage and historic pop-culture odds and ends, casts a rustic feel around the diverse clientele of this small grill pub. Local favorites include Whisky's Bar-B-Q, comprised of hickory smoked pork in an original sauce, and the "Meatloaf 2 die 4", served with mashed potatoes and gravy. A wide selection of appetizers, sandwiches, and burgers are also available.

Without doubt, the best cheapest lunch in Cincy. Come here for a touch of home - grand homestyle cooking like meatloaf & lumpy mashed taters or a huge chef salad. Round off with a bar-style grenadine-flavored "cherry" Coke. If you come by early in the week, take advantage of the wonderful offering of desserts from the sister restaurant across the street, Grand Finale. To avoid cramped seating, come early (11:30am) or later in the afternoon (after 1pm), or better yet, order ahead for takeout. The clientele is a perfect cross-section of humanity exuding a family-community-type atmosphere, which extends to the wait staff (who might seem brusque to newcomers).
Pros: Ultra-mega cheap, Grand Finale desserts, Nice, homey cooking
Cons: Super crowded @ lunch, Aloof service, Scant parking
