Exceptional Jeweler!

We (my now wife and I) started looking for engagement rings in what I would imagine is the typical fashion - by going to the big box stores and being hassled, or maybe more accurately, bullied into whatever jewelry the salesperson thought we should like. The selection of jewelry was outdated, plain, and almost always the same as the previous store we had visited. Admittedly, not all things were bad; there were some pieces that were unique and to our liking (even the occasional salesperson was okay). However, we had more or less decided at this point that the only way to get exactly what we wanted was to get a custom ring.

This begins what I would generally refer to as phase II - a custom engagement ring at a big (but local) jeweler. They started by taking our ideas and the ring designs we liked (a big step up already) and sketched out a few designs for us to review. The timing of the sketches was quick and we chose one we liked and made a list of alterations for the next sketch. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. After not hearing anything for two weeks, I called only to find out that the designer was on vacation. Everyone deserves time off, but the lack of any communication to a couple eagerly awaiting the design of their ring was quite bothersome. Not surprisingly, the lack of respect and basic manners made it easy to say no thanks and move on.

This brings me to phase III (and thank goodness, the final phase) - a custom ring at a local family jeweler (Krombholz Jewelers). Like most people from ‘Generation Y’, we use the internet to find almost everything and a new jeweler was no exception. We broadened our search to the nearest cities with hopes of finding a jeweler that could meet our needs. After stumbling onto the Krombholz website and seeing some of the unique custom pieces they had done, I proceeded with research. This inevitably led me to Citysearch, where twenty some people had reviewed Krombholz with 5 stars. I was skeptical to say the least (as I am sure you, the current researcher, are). So I read every review looking for similar words and sentence structure, trying to determine if they were written by the proprietors themselves. Just so there is no confusion, I will state it here… They most certainly were not!

Our first experience at Krombholz was with Eli, and let’s just say we were blown away. From the second we walked in, the respect and kindness of every employee made the aforementioned experiences evaporate. They listened to what we had to say, answered our questions - even the ones which, in retrospect, were kind of dim-witted - all without making us feel terrible about asking. From this point forward it was simple; they worked with us through the entire process from design to wax casting to metal casting to modification and finally, a finished product. To say they gave us exactly what we wanted almost seems like an understatement. The suggestions they made, in combination with Lee’s artisan level of skill, lead to the most gorgeous engagement ring I have ever seen (although I may be a little biased here).

This may seem like an exorbitant amount of praise for Krombholz, but that is because they deserve it. From their customer respect and loyalty to their expertise and craftsmanship in making fine jewelry, I am happy to say they have gained a customer for life and without question, I would recommend them to anyone looking for a truly exceptional experience.

To Krombholz: Thank you Eli, Lee, and the rest of the staff at Krombholz for giving a young couple a great start to their marriage by providing them with a beautiful engagement ring and a level of customer service unparalleled for its time.

Krombholz Review of our Wedding Bands

Working with Lee on my wife's wedding band was truly a wonderful experience. For such a special, important piece, you want to make sure you have a jeweler you can trust and will do a fantastic job. We received exactly that in Krombholz Jewelers. Knowing the owner is also the chief designer on our ring gave us great comfort that the job would be well done. Given their track record and my experience working with them, I would recommend them for anyone in need of a great jeweler!

One-of-a-kind Engagement Ring

As someone who knew very little about jewelry planning on marrying a girl who knew a LOT about jewelry, I was understandably nervous about my decision. I went to many "pedestrian" jewelry stores to do some research; an impersonal experience that normally started with a catalog search. However, after one window-shop with my girlfriend at Krombholz, I was able to confidently make my decision. The difference was Lee, Brad, and the helpful staff at Krombholz. By merely listening to my girlfriend describing (in detail) the components of her ideal ring, Krombholz was able to produce some stunning examples and design a custom ring. The staff at Krombholz was extremely knowledgeable, professional and flexible, providing outstanding customer service before and after the purchase. My fiance now has a one-of-a-kind ring; the kind she deserves. The next time I need to learn something about jewelry, I know exactly where to go.

Great flexibility, prices, and overall service!!!

My fiance and I spent quite a bit of time checking out jewelers in the Cincinnati area from Tiffany, James Free, Krombholz and others. Each store had a different feel and we had good experiences at each. After our first trip into Krombholz is was no question where I was going to buy the engagement ring. We met with Lee on our first visit and worked with him from there on out. Lee was very flexible with our schedules as I am out of town every weekday and he made sure to fit us in on any day that we asked.

To the actual service: Lee was able to answer our numerous questions on diamonds and fill us in with all the characteristics of the diamonds and metals. He was able to give us the pro's and con's and help us make an educated decision within our budget. Not only this, but Krombholz specializes in custom jewelry. This was 1 major perk that no other stores offered. At other stores, we basically had to pick a ring from the case and order her size. From Lee, we were able to customize the shape, style, width, etc to make the perfect ring. In the end, the price was within my budget and my fiance continues to get compliments on her ring. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Because of the excellent service, we will definitely be purchasing the wedding bands from Krombholz and know they will be perfect.

The best part is the staff and service.

Of course they have lovely jewelry but that is not the best part. The best part is the staff and service. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. I’ve done everything from purchase, to repairs, to custom made jewelry. Brad is very creative and great to work with. My custom made jewelry made from favorite gems acquired in my travels met all my multi-functional desires – wear as a necklace, pin or come apart and reassemble into something different. What fun! And the price - reasonable. My favorite area features antique jewelry/consignment...There are often unusual exquisite offerings – irresistible! Brad’s resourceful consultation helped me find just the right gift for my daughter’s 16th birthday and later, graduation from college – exactly fit her taste and style. When you visit Krombholz, check out Lee’s latest design project/awards… creative jewelry design artist in action! Wow.
