Editorial Review for Blue Ash Chili Restaurant – by Juliana Vice

The Mood
In the heart of this yuppie suburb lies an unassuming chili parlor, with a 1950s d¿cor and a takeout business that never slows down. The diner atmosphere feels authentic, right down to the grease and the smiling visage of Elvis on the walls. Sherbet-colored booths line the walls, and matching stools cozy up to the counter. The waitresses are no-nonsense and brisk, but they'll get that five-way in front of you fast.

The Food
Chili is made with care and plenty of ground beef, a little chunkier than the chain variety. Sick of this sweet stuff on spaghetti? Try one of the double-decker sandwiches, dozens of permutations of beef, ham, egg, bacon and cheese. Or go for a dinner plate or hamburger steak or chicken. Non-chili eaters may get a dubious stare, but your sandwich leaves more chili for everyone else.

Insider Tips

What to Drink

Blue Ash Chili proudly serves Hudepohl and "cocktails." Pardon me, waitress, what wine would you recommend with a three-way?

Can't Get In? Try

Be sure to visit one of the many locations Skyline Chili.

When to Go

The chili-for-breakfast crowd comes in before 11am. Then the chili frenzy begins, and it doesn't slack off until a brief lull in mid-afternoon, then revives for the dinner rush.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I was happy to hear that Blue Ash Chili was under new ownership. The food is just what I remembered from years ago. From what I was told and experienced, they are back to using all the original meats and ingredients. You can tell the new owner is taking pride in the establishment, it is clean and the service is top notch. The place is as busy as ever and the word is spreading. Its even a great place to kick back and enjoy a cold beer. It was even mentioned on NPR. So, if you like award winning overstuffed sandwiches and real cincinnati style chili, you've got to try it.

Pros: Great Value, Good Service , Awesome Food

Most people would think of Skyline Chilli when it comes to Cincinnati Chilli. The people who know better think of Blue Ash. Blue Ash is not the greatest decor. It has sort of a 50's diner feel about it. And it isn't in the greatest state of repair. This is probably what makes the food so good. The kitchen is well seasoned.

Pros: Value, quality

Cons: kinda run down

The meaty, homemade-tasting chili is a great alternative to the mass-produced chili chains.  See the full editorial review.
