Ah, the Blue Bell Tavern.
Not much to say : this place is simple, an old tavern. The people there are 'real' in the sense you can strike up conversation easy and there are always some real characters in this bar.
And plus, the guy who owned this business is named JOHNNY KNUCKLES. How can you not love a business owned by a guy named JOHNNY KNUCKLES?
(Well he is my grandfather, so I love him regardless. He has since past away, R.I.P.)
Relax in an old Deer Park Mainstay. The Blue Bell has been around for years. I remember my dad going to the place in the 1960s and 1970s. Back in the day, they had card games and it was a local crew. I think the fellow that owned it was named Johnny Knuckles (seriously). I was there about 5 years ago, and while there didn't appear to be any card games, it still seemed to be a local crew. I like this type of place.
Nice inexpensive local bar. I found Blue Bell's to ba local "dive" type of bar. That's not necessarily a bad thing. While maybe not where one would go to impress a first date, one could certainly quench their thirst here on the cheap. Friendly locals and a very friendly bartender. Nothing fancy, but it has a real "neighborhood" feel to it.
