Created in 1939 when its first 905 acres were leased from the federal government, the 2,630 acres include two state-dedicated natural areas, the spring beauty dell and the greenbelt area. It's also the site of Parky's Farm, a 100-acre demonstration farm and petting zoo. Two golf courses and a Frisbee golf course are located in the park, along with a fitness trail, a nature trail, picnic areas and a campground.

The ExtrasSpring is a perfect time to walk the Park Course and Great Oak Trails to observe celandine poppies and other native wildflowers in bloom.
When to GoParky's Ark is open daily 11am-7pm, weather permitting, between Memorial Day and Labor Day and is free to the public.

Since the park has been remodeled it has become very attractive and affordable and fun for kids of all ages.
Pros: inexpensive, good for kids, water park
