Best Hobby Store in Town
by Lewman at Citysearch
Man I've never seen so much stuff in one store. You talk about selection... went in there for a simple part & & bought 2 cars! I could resist all of the cool stuff had to buy the cars! I can imagine the part that they dont have. Even found a part for my 20 yr old RC10
- Pros: Huge selection/ Helpful service
- Cons: a little far from home
Poor Customer Service

I have heard horror stories about Pit Row in the past and have had my own issues from years ago. I recently got a Aquacraft Nitro Boat to play with. I went and purchased some field supplies in late May and had a great experience. This was on a week day at lunch. Well that all changed today. On Thursday I called and needed a part, I was told the part wasn't in stock but bring the boat and we'll figure something out. I didn't have time to order the parts. On Saturday I walked in with my boat and two young men were working the counter. On was working on a boat the other was working on an 1/8 scale buggy. They asked for a minute to clear the counter and I said take your time. I walked over and grabbed a $20.00 item off the shelf and by the time I got back to the counter they had cleared it, so I set my boat and the item I intended on purchasing on the counter. I explained that I needed a drain plug for the boat and the one kid said we don't have them in stock. I told him that I had called and was told to bring the boat in and that they would figure something out. He then said smugly "What do you want me to do?" I explained again that I had been told to come in and they would figure some thing out. He again replied smugly "What do you want me to do?". At that point I realized that he had no intention of helping me so I said nothing nothing at all. I then pick my boat up leaving the item I needed to purchase on the counter. As I reached the door I heard in a very very smug way "Have a nice day". I sat in my truck and called home for my wife to find me the address of HobbytownUSA. As we were talking I noticed on the door "BEST SERVICE IN TOWN". I though to myself if the owner only knew. I then drove to Hobbytown to purchase the items I needed. While they didn't have the part I needed they offered me excellent service with a smile and gave me a few ideas to help me fix my problem. I intend on calling the owner about the service I received. Worst part is I live in Independence KY and will drive past them in the future to get product from Hobbytown. It's sad to see in this economy poor customer service like I received today.
Great Store, But management terrible!!!! Fire Rick

I like the store, however
Been in there a couple times and the guy with the receeding hairline and glasses is continuously feeding customers the wrong information, not to mention trying to lye as if he owns any of the vehicles available for purchase past and present, I think his name is Rick, If i were you, Wait for Joe (the owner) He's atleast honest and knowledgeable to look parts up and get you squared away! With joe its always a pleasure!
I just hate it when some doesn't know squat about what they are talking about and then try and selll you on it. It's very upsetting because alot of people should do thier homework after speaking to Rick. Nobody's interested in any folklore past history information about himself based on lies, just sell me the Right part for the third time Rick, shut up and let me leave!
The store has grown in size since i been in there last, still a bit pricey but well worth it if you are a R/C fanatic!
Worth shopping there just would be better if the manager wasn't such a looser. Even in my old age i have never ran across anyone who knows so much and smart about so little.
Good job Joe you are an asset to the hobby world, Rick kick dirt!
- Pros: The Owner Joe, variety,
- Cons: the manager Rick, warantied items
