Not impressed – I went to this restaurant thinking it would be a great place to take the girlfriend for a Valentine's day dinner and I left disappointed. We decided to go there because the reviews were very encouraging and we wanted to spend more money than we usually do when we go out. We read the menu online and had our dinners already selected before we left but it turned out the restaurant was not offering pasta on that particular Valentine's day night. That was a huge disappointment because we really wanted authentic italian food and thought we would not have a problem getting it there. I settled with the filet mignon which was butterflied without my consent, and any fan of steak, especially filet mignon, knows that butterflying a filet ruins it. She settled with the new york strip and was not impressed because it was overloaded with garlic on top of it which took away from the flavor of the meat. After it was all said and done, two entrees and two glasses of wine a piece set me back $96 and I can only wish I had that money back now and chose some place different.
THE BEST ITALIAN IN CINNCINNATI – Trying to find a restaurant in this city that has all of the things you expect when you go out is hard to find...good service, great food and clean and appropriate atmosphere. I have found it at Barresi's! They have a huge menu with both Italian flare and a steak if I am in the mood. The service is always impeccable, and get this...friendly! They remember what table I like and sometimes I get a server that actually remembers what I ordered the last time I dined. I suggest you try this best kept secret.....as they call themselves.
Incredible! – After one delicious meal there, this is our favorite restaurant bar none. Incredible waiters and service. Food to make your mouth water every time you think of it! Highly recommend!!
Mama mia – Barresi's offers the best in Italian dining in Cincinnati. The Lasagne is to die for and the unmatched selection of fine wine is as good as it gets!! My wife didn't care much for italian food until I took here for our 3rd wedding anniversary. She now has a new favorite restaurant!! If you want the best cincy has to offer in italian, you must go there.
Simply the best – This is the best Italian in the area. It is pricey so be prepared for $50 each at least. The service is up there with the Mais. and Jean Paul's. They make an effort to remember you too. The cuisine is from all over Italy so some you may like and some you may not ask - your waitperson. They all know the menu inside out and Sal will adjust to your taste if possible.
Perfection – This is not your typical excellent italian restaurant. This far exceeds that with it's impecable service and beautiful setting. There is no way to tell of this place from the exterior, but once you've walked in you know you're in italian heaven. The food is exceptional, not to mention finding the entrees elsewhere is virtually impossible. This place is memorable and worth traveling for. I have moved to Cleveland and still go back. You have to see for yourself.
Look good (nice lighting), feel great (doting service) and eat the best Italian food Cincinnati has to offer. – The Mood
The Barresi family enterprise began with six tables and no menu. Over the years, it's expanded to 28 tables dispersed throughout several intimate rooms on two floors. The décor is plain--cream stucco walls, crisp linens and fresh flowers--but the sconces and candlelight put a soft glow on your dinner companions and the food. The restaurant's exterior was recently revamped, and it's better than the former brick exterior, but it still wouldn't tip off the casual passerby to the treasures within.
Given the family's northern and southern Italian roots, the restaurant has always offered the best of both cuisines. You can choose from southern classics such as lasagna, manicotti and chicken cacciatore (one of the lighter entrees). Select from a swath of sauces including marinara, bolognese, Alfredo, pesto and clam. A northern Italian specialty is chicken Florentine, a succulent boneless breast of chicken stuffed with ham and cheese, served on a bed of fresh sautéed spinach, topped with a rich cream and cheese sauce, and garnished with pecans.
Service at Barresi's is impeccable, the wine list is extensive and expensive. Treat yourself to Barresi's and you'll be treated right.
Best Italian in Town! – Absolutely wonderful. The salted fried dough pockets they serve before the meal are to die for! The salad was so fresh and fantastic. Everything was fabulous!
Simply the Best! – The food is consistantly supurb, whether you order a favorite selection from the menu or a new special. The service is excellent - efficient, friendly yet not intrusive. Barresi's is our favorite choice for a business meeting - out of town clients ask to be taken back to Barresi's when they visit us again - as well as a romantic evening.
Pure Paison – Barresi's offers a chance to eat Italian food as it is cooked and served in the finest of Italian homes. The service is exceptional, the menu deep and varried, and the wine selections outstanding. If you like veal, here's the place to get the best.
