Thank you for the beautiful funeral and all your help!

After reading some of the other reviews I felt I absolutely must give my experience with Walker’s and specifically with Byron Adkins. My dad's family told me to go to Walkers. I had my reservations and was scared that quality would suffer due to the inexpensive price. During the first visit I knew I had nothing to worry about and as the week went on I knew Walker’s would make the funeral everything I had hoped for.

I kid you not, from day 1 everything that could go wrong went wrong but NOT WITH WALKER'S. In fact, Byron helped fix a few of the problems just so I didn’t have to worry about them. Again- these were NOT problems created by Walker’s- they were problems FIXED by Walker’s. With various issues and requests (from family and friends) I was in constant contact with Byron for a week. He either immediately took my calls or returned them very quickly (I think I waited 5 mins once). Byron never pushed us, was extremely understanding about our concerns and even helped get my father’s military information since we wanted a full military burial and were having a difficult time finding his VA info. He contacted not only the Army for us, but also the American Legion which did a moving 21 gun salute. It was such a beautiful tribute to my dad and Walker’s helped make my dad’s last request of a military funeral a reality.

Even my mother mentioned that from her prior experiences with funeral homes, Byron went way beyond the call of duty. Byron really didn’t seem to just be “doing a job.” I have no doubt he really loves what he is doing which is evident by his dedication and compassion. I was pretty overwhelmed and he never once made me feel like he wanted to be doing anything but helping me with my funeral needs.

I also recommend Rev. Love Jr. as your minister. Our original minister couldn’t do it and Byron suggested Rev. Love Jr. as a last minute replacement. I must admit he gave a beautiful service. His choice in scripture was perfect for my dad and he used many examples from our eulogies to make his sermon personalized. I was very touched and have had friends of all religions call and tell me what a wonderful job he did. Don’t be nervous using him if you are not Baptist. I am Catholic and must admit that he gave one of the most beautiful services I have ever heard.

If you want a compassionate staff that intuitively knows what you need during one of the worst times of your life- go to Walker's and request Byron. I am not sure about the other family’s negative experience that reviewed on this website, but I can tell you, without a doubt, Byron got me through this past week and helped give my dad a perfect funeral and his kindness will never be forgotten by me or my family. As for the remaining staff, although I didn’t have as much contact with them, I appreciated the kind words of encouragement the receptionist provided when I mentioned I was nervous about doing my first eulogy. The other staff seemed very nice and respectful as well.

Thank you Walker’s for all your help, you truly helped me grant my father’s last wishes today and for that I am eternally grateful.

Family is an embarassment

I am embarassed by my family. Sanfords. Gosh I don't know where to start. The poeple helped us when nobody would and my family not happy. That just not right. She looked good since she was so young and died in a terrible car accident. Byron Adkins was nice and tryed to help my family. I talked to Byron and it's not right when some of my family comlains and they didn't pay anything. That is an embarassment to me. Grow up and stop telling lies on Byron Adkins. He did a good job and gave us a big discont. He loaned me money to pay the funeral when my own family would not. Stopy lying on people. It not right. Byron a racist? How? How? How? Stop lying. Im embarrased to have to put our business out. Stop lying.

Good Service and everything so nice

Rev. Allen is such a nice minister. Having a minister to comfort the family during this difficult time was so nice. I never been to funeral home where minister was on staff to comfort the family. The spirit of God came over us all in the arrangments and things just got better from there. I knew mom was ok then. I feel the spirt just thinking about it. Glory be to God for providing such good people to take care of us. Brother Walker and Rev. Allen so good. Herb Walker and his children just took such good care of us. Glory be to God. Praise Jesus. This is a God filled place with beautiful people.

VERY GOOD SERVICE

Very nice people. Herb Walker and his children are wonderful. They run a very nice funeral home. They take care of the community. They care about people. I know the Walkers and I worked with Mr. Walker at the Community Action Agency for over 10 years.

The Walker's are are Angels and do the Lord's work every day. The sweest spirit is at Walker Funeral Home and they are so good.
