The Scene – On the banks of the Ohio, this outdoor venue can seat 6,000 under the covered pavilion and an additional 5,000 in the lawn seats. Picnics are a given, but plan on buying all drinks, even bottled water, on site. There are also restrictions on what kind of chairs you can bring in for lawn seating; chairs are available for rental. But you may as well just bring a blanket--once the music starts, you have to stand to see anything. – – The Draw – The sound system is excellent and Jumbo-tron screens have been added for rock concerts. If the pavilion isn't sold…
Horridly awful venue for lawn seats...
by ElusiveSigh
I went to my first Riverbend Concert last night - Coldplay. While the band was awesome as always, the acoustics of the lawn are awful. Chris Martin made up for it by coming out to the center lawn stage to sing to us though. :) I am 5'3" tall and the lower I went, the less I could see of the stage. The design of the shelter is horridly awful. It is pretty sad that you can pay a fortune for tickets (52 bucks for LAWN seats) and not even be able to really see the artist because of the way the building is made. I would recommend not spending the money on a lawn seat, and instead just upping your total cost to get inside. It had to have been better there. Oh and if it recently rained, or you think it is going to rain, bring a trash bag or tarp to lay your blanket on, the ground was soaked last night for us!
Overall I give this venue a 1 star for poor acoustics and seating.
- Pros: The bands they somehow manage to attract
- Cons: River stench, acoustics, inability to see, soaking wet lawn
Kenny Chesney Show
by queeniebee51
I attended the Kenny Chesney show on Thursday night. I paid well over $500.00 for my tickets. This was my choice to do to be able to see him, but there had to be something wrong with him. He did not put on a good show at all. I love going to Riverbend, I think it is a perfect place for concerts. The only drawback to Thursday night's show was too many people. I am just wondering if Kenny was sick or tired or what the problem was because he didn't even come back out for an encore. Right now I am kicking myself in the you know what for paying that much for the ticket.
- Pros: Love being outside
- Cons: Too many tickets sold, not enough bathrooms
Way too small for Kenny Chesney's Show!
by grayceww
Poor Kenny Chesney had no where to run during his performance on Thursday night, he is a very active performer for his audience and Riverbend didn't even have room for his stage to come out in front! What a rip-off for the artist and the fans! The stage is way too small for these big artists!Build it bigger!I do have to say the security was the best I have seen anywhere during a Kenny show!
- Pros: Good parking if you get there early!
- Cons: People throwing garbage everywhere!People urinating everywhere!
