WORST SEVERICE AND FOOD EVER!! – First of all Happy Hour and No Server. Asked the Bartender who immediately had an attitude about service and we were told to wait someone would eventually get our order?? Ordered the Philly Wrap which is generally delicious before the new ownership. Now nothing but a grease laden mess. There was so much grease oozing out of my wrap that I could not even eat it. I advised the server that I could not eat it. Well we never saw her again. Saddest part of this is that there were only two other patrons in the whole dining area. We were presented with a bill, not asked how everything was or if we desired anything else, so much for upselling. Imagine my suprise when the philly wrap was still on the bill. I headed to the bar to ask for a manager and was told that had I wanted it taken off I should have asked. I tried to explain myself when I was then told to "Stop Yelling and Get Out Of My Face" by the bartender. No manager to be seen. I explained to the bartender that I was not yelling and that I would like to speak with a manager, again I was told to "GET OUT OF MY FACE". I am in customer service myself and I have to admit I have never witnessed anything like this in my life. I will never ever go back to the Wooster Tavern and Will Share This Experience with Anyone Who Will Listen.
Great local sports bar! – I've been going to this place for more than 9 years. Wooster Tavern is not only a great place to go eat and drink with friends or family but is also very active in the community. Newt , the owner, is always happy to give his time and donations to local fund raisers.
Some of the things I've read here simply aren't true! The staff and food at the Wooster are great and we love having this neighborhood bar! Newt has always been outgoing and happy to have a beer or two with his patrons. He also has no problem asking the unruly to leave. Obviously a couple people have taken offense to that and have used this format for revenge.
Check out the Tavern, you will not be disappointed!
Skip This Joint! – I recommend driving right by this place and taking the 5 minute drive down 50 to mt. lookout. There are a handful of bars down there with the same sports bar feel and better food, plus a better crowd of folks to hangout with rather than the creepy dopes at Wooster. It sure is slim pickin's at the Wooster Tavern! Just say no.
great local sports bar! – Good drink prices, good food, nice local down to earth folks. I also love the NFL ticket, any game you want! Parking lot is too dark at night and they need to cut back some tree limbs so you don't miss the driveway, but otherwise, great place!
Comfortable, Inviting, Exceptional Food and Good Prices... – The Wooster Tavern is a great local spot. I eat/drink there about twice a month and always have a pleasurable experience. The back deck is great in the summer and the bar area has a quaint friendly feel. I haven't spent much time in the dining room, but it always seems to be busy in there as well. I've been pleased with all of the menu items that I've tried, especially the pizza and the burgers. Stop into the Wooster Tavern for a meal and stick around for the cozy environment, reasonably priced drinks and friendly staff afterward...
Nice local tavern – I live in Madeira and went to the Wooster Tavern to meet some out of town friends before Thanksgiving. The place was both clean and welcoming; the staff was amicable and the bartender was very attentive. I was never waiting for a drink and the food was absolutely delicious. I talked with the owner, "Newt", for a bit about the menu and business in general and he was very open and friendly. I'd highly recommend this place for anyone in the area whether for a family dinner or a night out with the girls.
Meddlesome owner and rude employees – I had been going to this bar for over 5 years as it was a convenient stop on the way home. The food was good when Fritz and his wife owned the place and they were always pleasant to chat with.
Now, it's owned by some guy who goes by the name of "newt" and the service and overall environment and friendliness of the place have dropped immensely.
The owner always has an unsettling and precarious attitude and loves to cause trouble with anyone in his own bar. You can catch him on any day of the week stumbling/fumbling, clear as day, drunk out of his mind and offending people both verbally and physically.
There are much better establishments in the area to enjoy a cold beer and bar food. I won't ever be going back to this place. I hope one day it goes under new ownership as currently it's a very undesireable place for the area.
Not a family place! – DO NOT GO !!!! The food is not good (frozen) and the bartenders ARE RUDE!!!! i WILL NEVER GO AGAIN. Too expensive for the terrible food!
