flavorless food and bad service. Do not go. I had Veal Suzanne. Food had absolutely NO FLAVOR and no sauce. Definitely not worth the $23.00. Service was terrible and very slow.

Slow Moving. The food was good, but the service was SLOW! My husband and I went and they were fairly busy. I say fairly because not all tables had customers. It took about 10 minutes to receive our drinks. Then another 10 to take our order. 45 minutes to receive our food AFTER they had already cleared our salad plates. I never received a refill on my water. It took another 20-30 minutes to get our check after the waitress had cleared our table and boxed up our food. We didn't complain because we were watching the other tables and they were receiving the same type of service. We figured it must be the way of the resturant.

The mushroom soup is AMAZING!!!!

This local favorite serves great upscale, contemporary American cuisine in an historic setting.. The Scene
A popular neighborhood restaurant, National Exemplar is located in a charming Tudor-style building that fits nicely into the surrounding architecture; the rustic interior includes a large fireplace. Waiters are friendly and laid-back, and food and drinks are served in a timely manner. Expect a full house and a bit more noise than a typical dinner out.

The Food
Even picky eaters will find something among the abundant menu choices. From the real crab meat cakes and finger-sized shrimp to the main entrees and deserts, everything is well-prepared, though often a little under-seasoned. Favorites include the Chicken Oscar, topped with snow crab, asparagus and bearnaise, and the French-cut pork chops in cherry burgundy sauce. Choose from four perfectly-cooked, high-quality cuts of steak and juicy prime rib dishes. For a light finale try the white chocolate mousse with fresh strawberries; for something heavier, the Post Mortem Brownie topped with double chocolate chip and coffee ice cream is highly recommended.
