Go to Frisch's for your favorites. I've eaten at various Frisch's over many years. They do some things well, and the rest we don't worry about. We eat at many fine restaruants, but sometimes you just want to go out for some basic home cooking. This chain fills a lack of one thing in the midwest - the traditional diner. If you go out east, there are diners everywhere that sell cheap home cooked food. In Ohio, you have Frisch's and a few other places. The food is affordable, the pie is good, and the tuna melt's are done well. There is always the triple layered fudge cake that has been around forever that still draws us in. I hear they have a good breakfast bar for weekend brunch.

For the rest of the menu, the food is basic and harmless, if not too exiciting. One thing I will say - almost always the people that work there are down to earth people who treat you very friendly. It is what it is, and doesn't try to be something it's not.

Frisch's is very poor quality food. As a child I used to eat at Big boy all the time (another city) I tried a burger and fries. In a word it is dog food. Soy in the burger and old fowl oil for the fries. I was shocked this place is in business. I could not eat it as I am not a dog.

Unfair treatment in the workplace. I have been an employee at Frischs since Oct of last year. I opened up the restaurant in Dayton, Ohio. I had been a certified trainer for most of my time there. I have never worked at a restaurant where the management is so disrespectful to their employees and it is condoned by higher management. The employees of managements choice run the restaurant there. If you are an intelligent person that will not tolerate the disrespectfuness then you are at risk of losing your job. The staff at the Benchwood store do not care about the customers. All they care about is being in other employees personal lives and causing problems for them at work. The really sad part about the whole thing is that if you want to talk to cooperate office it is impossible to talk to anyone. It does not get past the regional manager which is part of the problem. I would never recommend any person to try to work for this restaurant. If you do, you might as well give up your pride because they will try to take it away. I didnt stand for it so therefore I was set up to be terminated.
