What People Are Saying About Ambar India Restaurant

The Scene – The atmosphere is casual with surprising high-end touches like chandeliers and white tablecloths. A steady stream of Indian clientele all but verify the delicious authenticity of the fragrant dishes. The menu is full of vegetarian items (even vegans have plenty of choices) as well as a long list of meat dishes. Vegetable samosas are a filling appetizer, while popular entrees include chicken tikka saag (chicken cooked with spinach, cream and tomato sauce) and other spicy curries.
Excellent

My friends from India got this restaurant to cater their wedding. When you dine at certain times, you see mostly people from India. It tastes authentic, and I can tell they use top quality ingredients. I have been loving this place for close to 15 years. It can be a tight squeeze on weekend evenings, so arrive early if you don't like crowds.
This once was a nice place

I have liked Ambar for years, but this last year I've ONLY had rude service from most of their staff. One time, the girl up front snickered at my friends from out of town. My friend noticed the girls rude behavior, which is to say her rude behavior is painfully obvious.
On another two occasion, when I called to place a pick up order, the girl on the phone, in the middle of my order, handed the phone to someone else without any explanantion. Then the other woman I spoke to was short and just as unhelpful as the first. I will never again give this restaurant my money (so there)!
- Pros: The food is okay for the price.
- Cons: The Staff are RUDE! So rude that it is a waste of money.

Perfect dining experience. Wonderful staff and the food is the best! The parking can test your abilities to drive.
- Pros: Best Indian food in town!
- Cons: None
Amazing food, amazing service!

The service at this place is amazing! Another customer dumped an entire glass of water into my chicken curry, thereby ruining it, and just walked away. The servers at Ambar not only moved us to a new table, they replaced all our food--even the food that wasn't affected! The restaurant was super busy at the time, but they went above and beyond to remedy a situation that wasn't even their fault.
- Pros: Quality food, service that goes above and beyond
- Cons: Nothing
Best Indian in Town!

I have tried Indian food several times and did not care for it until I ate at Ambar! Now I am hooked! I actually crave it on a weekly basis. The food is great, comes in good portions, and is a great value(in my opinion). I can put away some food and I have to be very hungry to finish an entire entree with rice(though it has happened : ) If you like spicey food, the Chicken Vindaloo is unbeatable!! Chicken Mater is also another one of my favs. Baba India(Hyde Park), Guru India(Crescent Springs, KY), and Akash India(downtown) are under the same ownership and offer the same great food if Clifton is not convenient for you. I carryout from here often as well!
- Pros: Food, Service
- Cons: Parking, Tight Seating
