My new favorite outdoor outfitter!!. I recently had my first experience with Benchmark Outfitters in Cincinnati. I was thoroughly impressed with the customer service, quality of merchandise and welcoming atmosphere of the store. I couldn't be happier with my new Merrel hiking boots and Patgonia outerwear. Cincinnati's Best Outdoor Store. Hands down..
No longer a Cincinnati resident, I was not aware that this store existed...thankfully, an employee of ANOTHER outdoor store recommended that I check out Benchmark for some rock climbing gear. As I
walked into the store, I was thoroughly impressed by the size of the store and the variety of apparel and equipment. I immediately noticed the wonderful hospitality of the staff members and could tell they were very knowledgable of the items they carried in the store. Both the owner and store employees were incredibly friendly and helpful, making my first time in the store a great experience.
Anyone looking for climbing, hiking, camping, or any other outdoor gear, this is the place to check out!…

BEST SERVICE! Cool gear. July 31, 2011. Last week my wife talked me into making the 30 minute drive to Benchmark. Reluctantly I agreed to go... I was surprised, the store reminds me of some of the better outfitters you find in CO and the people were amazingly helpful! VERY patient... Good mix of high-end gear and some basics. I bought a pair of Mountain Khaki's and she got a furry vest with a hood. Very cool, but a bit trendy & pricey. If you can afford to spend a premium and want something unique. Go here. If price is your main driver. Hit the outlets - just don't expect the same level of service or selection. Staff makes this place go 'round and I liked the manager.…
Awful service.
In late January of 2010, I walked in and purchased a pair of Vibram Fivefingers - however, I was given an women's 41, rather than a men's. This was an accident on the part of the sales clerk, I'm
sure. But as a result, my shoes rapidly deteriorated at the seams (I have wide feet) and I had to return the shoes. I was issued a store credit and put on a waitlist for another pair because these things were and are damn popular. I specifically requested a men's pair of 41s when I was put on the waitlist.
I didn't hear back from Benchmark until April.
Now, the wait can easily be attributed to Vibram - the FiveFingers are extremely popular and hard to keep in stock anywhere - but when I returned for my shoes, I was sold ANOTHER pair of women's 41s. This was after a very specific request for a men's pair and a thorough explanation.
When I called, I was repeatedly put on hold and after explaining myself, all they offered was a (grudging) refund. The staff was inattentive and more or less indifferent to their customers' needs every time I visited the store. I will not be shopping with Benchmark again.…
