Hometown atmosphere, don't knock it till you've tried it

Pleasant Ridge Chili is by far one of my favorite restaurants, whether your old, young, inbetween, a trucker stopping through, or anything else this place is great. I've been going there since as far back as I can remember and along the way everyone that I've ever taken there has fallen in love with this place just as much as I am. The food is made right on the spot when you order so it is always perfectly heated right when you get it. The service is fantastic, if you go in there with a good attitude and treat the establishment with respect, then soon the waitresses will be calling you by name and asking, "The usual today?", knowing exactly what you want to order. All you need to make sure is to have a little bit of cash on you, the prices are very reasonable and inexpensive so the fact that they don't accept credit cards is a non-issue (also there are 4 major banks within a 1 minute walking distance so it is definitely not a problem to get money out). I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to have some good chili, food, atmosphere, and not break the bank. Plus its open from 9 till about 4 in the morning so you can go there at any point in the day and night and still get a great meal.

• Pros: Own parking lot, open later than most fast food places, inexpensive
• Cons: Does not take credit cards, but there are 4 major banks withing a 1min. walk

Great Chili, great fries... the best food comes from surprising places

Pleasant Ridge Chili is one of those awesome one-of-a-kind food finds. Not as bland as the bigger chains, the service is usually friendly unless they're rushed and the food is always piping hot when served. It's a neighborhood establishment, locals frequent it regularly and it's not unusual to spot a few officers of the law enjoying a quick bite. Regulars know each other, new aquaintances are made at the counter.

The staff has been around for years and have seen their share of late-night revelers stopping in after a night out. Don't expect them to put up with rude people. The prices are great, the atmosphere clean but pretty cozy. Having their own parking lot really helps speed you in and out, a fast kitchen turns out your order quickly.

If you're expecting bubbly service in a chain-restaurant environment this place isn't for you. If you want to discover one of those last great mom and pop establishments serving Cincinnati-style Chili with their own unique recipes, this is the place. Casual dress, jukebox, open until 4:30am, brightly lit, busy late at night and a lot better than anything you can get at a drive-thru for about the same price.

• Pros: Quick service, great food, parking, quick service
• Cons: Don't expect the friendliest of servers. They're just efficient.

Cash ONLY

This is my first time writing a review on anything, so bear with me if it isn't the greatest. The restauraunt is small not very much room to move around if there is more than 15 people in the restaurant. One evening as I was walking in the door another couple was walking out very disappointed. The reason for their frustration was that the restaurant does not accept debit/credit cards, they are a cash only establishment. Which to me does not make sense in a day and age where there are commercials on TV actually poking fun at people who use money. As far as customer friendly and quality of service goes I would have to say that it is very low quality. I saw a group of college students get denied service because , from what i understand, a waitress said that they had stolen her tip from the table. After being questioned and recieving a statement from another customer the party was asked to leave and refused service. I thought that this was an outrage. After seeing this I refused myself to give patronage to a place that would do that to their customers.
