What People Are Saying About Lemon Grass

In Short – An inconspicuous building near Rookwood Pavilion, Lemon Grass offers authentic Thai cuisine on a heat scale of one to 10. For a small place, Lemon Grass offers an expansive menu, including tempting soups and salads. In addition to the standard fare, there are a few options with intriguing names such as "swimming angel;" chicken or tofu served on a bed of broccoli and spinach with peanut sauce.

The Best Soup Ever!!
by Ktraveler at Citysearch
This was the best Thai food I've ever had...and for a really reasonable price. I've had lemon grass soup before, but I will forevermore compare it to what I had at Lemon Grass. Wow!
The entree I ordered was a grilled salmon with a "3" (our of 10) level of spice. It, too, was delicious. The serving size was appropriate, but not gluttonous.
I don't know if this had anything to do with a Thai restaurant, but the merlot wine I ordered was great. I had two glasses.
The only constructive criticism I offer is that the background music playing during our dinner was American pop. Didn't really contribute to an asian atmosphere.
Best Thai in Cincinnati
by ball7068 at Citysearch
I've ate at just about every Thai place in Cincinnati, and I think this is the best one there is, next to Teak in Mount Adams. Sometimes it can be a little cramped in there, and its not a fancy atmosphere, but you go there for the food. Service is excellent, people always friendly. They are pretty authentic, having been to Thailand, and knowing what the food should be like. Sometimes there is a little inconsistency, but for the most part, its always excellent. I generally get Pad Thai, Garlic Chicken, Ginger Chicken, Jungle Curry, however, I've had just about everything on their menu. You can't go wrong -- never been disappointed with a meal there. If you are an aficionado for things super spicy, just come up with a number higher than their 1-10 scale. They will add fresh diced Thai chilies and will make things extremely spicy if that's you thing.
- Pros: Food, Service
- Cons: Parking (must cross Madion Ave w/o crosswalk)
curry madness
by andarugo at Citysearch
Lemon Grass is most certainly the best Thai food place in Cincinnati. Compared to the others in the area where you get stared at and oogled by the clientelle, Lemon Grass is affordable, clique, quaint, and fantastic. Aesteically, the cozy atmosphere tends to make you at ease as you wait for your dish to arrive. The food is prepared to order, as it would be in any respectable restaurant, and there are always at least 3 people willing to take your order for more corn cakes or Larb. One thing to metion above all else would have to be the curry. The curry at Lemon Grass is something all its own, The hot scale goes fro 1 to 10, but unbeknownst to many boring food-types, you CAN request a hotter dish. My friends and I have gone as high as 15. The most frequent request by my group is "Thai Spicy". Not the dish, this would be a statement in relation to how spicy you would want your curry to be. If you want to get lunch, order a plate of the curry, and if you want to get dinner, order a plate of the curry, Lemongrass supercedes the cincinnati area thai food universe with its righteous service, and blistering hot meals.
- Pros: immediate service, extra-amazing food, convenient parking
- Cons: none
Mediocrity & Pitfalls Defeat the Fulfillment of a Thai Meal

MnM Cincinnati Authentic Thai tasting food search. Our reviews of Cincinnati area Thai resturants or places that advertise Thai cusine is focused only on the taste of the food. Our credentials: Mark lived in Thailand for 10 years, 4 in the US Peace Corps & Mai is from Thailand & cooks amazing Thai food.
There are many attractive aspects to Lemon Grass in Hyde Park. Cozy, fast service, kind servers, Thai condiments available upon request, large portions & good value for money. However in terms of authentic Thai tasting food they only got 1 out of 3 entrees correct. We ordered Rad Na (large noodles in a oyster sauce with vegies) Pat Kapow Moo (fried pork w/ basil & vegies) & Pak Pak Ruam Mit (mixed spicy vegetables). The Rad Na was perfect! We were able to order plenty of Prik Nam Som (diced fresh chilies in vinegar) to mix into the entree- a must w/ this dish. We also got Prik Bon-nam pla (dried chilies in fish sauce) for the other entrees as needed. Very pleased w/ the availalility of the Thai condiments as this can often prove frustrating. Unfortunately the 2nd & 3rd entrees were prepared in a bizare red sauce exactly similar to the way Tan Thai (in downtown) does many of their entrees. The Pat Kapow was sweet & neither of us could taste the Basil- the key ingrediant. We sent it back. It returned overly salty & unedible. The Thai spicy mixed vegies were not spicy & were in that funky Chinese red sauce. We ordered everything spicy level 10 but these two dishes were sweet. LG problems: some dishes are being prepaed in a Chinese red sauce, its not Thai. We think this is done to give customers something familar. This is also why the service may be so fast- these dishes are premade in the sauce & its difficult to alter a premade entree. Over sweet & salty flavoring is a common problem. Lemon Grass had held out the promise of serving real Thai tasting food but defeated itself by falling into some of the common pitfalls of Thai cooking. Goodluck MnMs
- Pros: Ambience, Service, Value
- Cons: Not much of a Thai Taste & premade entrees
