Have a Flight of wine. Went on a Friday, since Saturdays are hectic in restaurants. 18th wedding Anniversary dinner. Ambiance was nice, not too busy. All the wait staff were in neat blue jeans, which lends an air of comfortable casual to the place. Clean layout and warm but not stuffy surroundings. The actual seating area is in two halves, which makes it seem smaller than it is.

Started with an amuse bouche that was tasty - a bit of smoked tuna I believe, just a bite. We had the most fun ordering a flight of wine - essentially you get 4 different half glasses of wine for two people for less than the price of a bottle. For two people this works well. The wines we had were 1) Sangria, very fruity and yet with spicy notes, not too sweet - filled with assorted citrus fruit that reminds one of a summer punch. 2) A Louis Jadot Chardonnay, which was served at perfect temperature, and went well with our fish based appetizers and strawberry / arugula salad. 3) A nice Burgundy, full bodied and Tannic, and lastly 4) a spicy Syrah, which paired very well with the reknowned pan seared Duck Breast. A note: we prefer full bodied wines in general, although the Chardonnay would have gone nicely with my Penne pasta and Crab dish in a creme sauce - but the reds did just as nicely.

Three such flights of wine were offerred on the menu, there was also a Red and a White selection. A very nice change to the usual "I'll have a bottle of something" with dinner. Especially nice to change wines with each course, although we didn't have wine with our appetizers, our mistake. I wish more restarants offered this as an option.

All in all, we had an excellent time, and would place Daveed's among the top 6 of the 18 restaurants we have eaten at for anniversaries.

One of the best meals.... ...I've ever had. My girlfriend and I were in Cincy for the night and, based on reviews I found, ate at Daveed's. Everyone was right - this place is great. The pan roasted duck was amazing, and the halibut was exceptional.

expensive but lots of little extras. Daveed's is probably the best place I've been to in Cincinnati. The restaurant is quiet enough to have conversation. The service is professional, if not a little stiff.

The food is expensive, but the portions are large and the chef sends out little extras like a palate cleanser in the beginning and chocolates at the end.

His signature dishes are the foie gras appetizer ($19) and the duck ($26).

You know you're in a trendy spot when the bartender's haircut costs more than your entire outfit.. The Scene
Decor is hip but understated, with modest artwork on terra-cotta walls. The dining rooms are intimate and cozy without being crowded. What's referred to as the "I-Spy table" is a padded bench against a wall that provides a movie-theater view of the rest of the room--perfect for the casual voyeur.

The Food
The menu seems short, but this is because it changes daily, allowing for maximum creativity and freshness of ingredients. The relatively small number of offerings is compensated for by attention to detail and presentation. Each offering, from appetizers to salads to entrees, is accompanied by a wine recommendation. The salad of arugula with smoked venison and shave Parmesan is a knockout. The dessert menu tempts with confections like apple wontons with cajeta (caramel) ice cream and "Cindy's 5-Way"--dollops of white and dark chocolate mousse, dense brownies, chocolate chip cookies.

Stupendous for Cincy. For Cincy this restaurant is wonderful...yes, there are a few little things that need correcting but my experience has always been great. David Cook is a really innovative chef and it shows. Everything we had was great. The service was a tinge slow but overall pretty good. We showed up on a Sat night at 8 with no reservations and they fit us in. The blue cheese cheesecake was very interesting and the little teaser plates were very nice and unexpected. The atmosphere is a bit crowded and not conducive to romance. Parking is horrible but comes with this neighborhood. Overall I will be back with friends.

yes!!. this town needs a ton more chef-owned restaurants. this chef is truly innovative. i've had the best entree and salad here, and i've had some curious dishes that didn't work just right. if you want the best you have to put up with a few mistakes. i wish the lighting would dim sum for a more romantic evening. the chef's wine parings are excellent. we always go by the glass here.

Good. Food and atmosphere was very nice. The waiter suggesting one of the most expensive bottles of wine availble was tacky ($110 w/o mentioning the price) and this probably lowered my overall experience.

An Experience. The food, service and atmosphere were exceptional. I also thought the wine selections were very well done.

To truly enjoy Daveed's, you have to arrive prepared for an evening. Our dining experience lasted from approximately 7:00 to 10:00 PM. I found this a little overblown, especially because the chair was uncomfortable and my knees kept hitting the pedistal under the table.

That said, the Digby scallops were fabulous and the rack of lamb is among the best in Cincinnati. Daveed's offers distinctive food and presentation as well as superior and knowledgable service.

We will certainly be back to try the other interesting selections.
