Example: great place for good bread. Madonna's is a place my girlfriend brought me to as her favorite spot downtown when we first started dating. I have to say, when Scotty is working, what start as a couple beers always seems to turn into 10 and next thing you know its closing time. The place never fails to entertain me and time seems to fly while I'm there. I might have even been persuaded to give it a 5 star rating if I didn't associate it so strongly with a 5 star hangover. Also, if Scotty worked every night, that'd be perfect. Maybe when cloning comes down in price. Word of warning though, if you visited the place on a Friday or Saturday, you're likely to get a different vibe. You get a lot of young drunk people wandering over from the bars next door and they are often times rude and obnoxious because they think the place is just a hole in the wall and they can do whatever they want. In truth, the place is a bit dark and dingy inside which is doesn't match my preference. In the same vein though, I've had some of the best conversation with people at that bar. It's a neat place.

Just the late-night spot the doctor ordered. Finding food after 10 in downtown Cincinnati can be tricky if it's a weeknight and you don't want to venture out to Clifton or Hyde Park. Fortunately, for bar fare, Madonna's fits the bill pretty well. The menu features standard appetizers and a few sandwich selections. I had the catfish sandwich, which was fresh and moist and pretty tasty, and for about $7, a good deal for the location and time of night. The bartender was outgoing and friendly and set the tone of conversation for the five or six people around, and the service was prompt and attentive. The location is pretty well in the center of downtown, close to the Aronoff Center and downtown hotels; an especially good bet for late check-ins who haven't eaten yet or are killing time. As far as drinks are concerned, the liquor looks pretty well stocked, but the beer is only bottles and no drafts; the prices look to be about what I would expect for a downtown bar, $2 domestics during special advertised times, e.g.

Scotty Brown Rocks!!!!!!!!. Madonna's is Great! It's a hodge podge of people, from attorneys, to bankers to restaurant employees. Scotty Brown is TRULY a bartending legend! The man is a born entertainer as well as a fantastic bartender. I think if he ran for Mayor, it would be a landslide victory! He is funny, personable, witty, and sarcastic( in a good way!). AND He is known to sing loudly and off key to popular tunes he always turns into a Bengal song! Also ask him about The Amazing Wappapotamus!! Yes, it's true the man wrote a children's book! The local color is entertaining. They have a great juke box, plenty of tvs to watch sports, a pool table and a menu, served later than any place downtown, that has a wide variety of pub grub and double-deckers! And it's pretty darn tasty. All in all, It's a winner in my book! See for yourself!

Conveniently located near some of downtown's larger arts and entertainment venues, including the Aronoff and Taft theaters, performers and stagehands alike have been known to walk down to Madonna's to puff a cigar, swill a brew or just shoot the bull with friends. Fine imported beers, including Grolsch, Red Stripe and Harp. Madonna's also has basic bar fare such as soups, salads, burgers, appetizers and daily lunch specials catering to the business crowd.
