Editorial Review for Palomino Euro Bistro – by Carrie Clark
The Scene
Hopping every night, Palomino's large bar is a popular happy-hour spot for downtown workers. Flashy without being over the top, the multi-tiered dining room's floor-to-ceiling windows overlook Fountain Square. It can be loud, but good dinner conversation is never precluded.
The Food
Palomino's menu draws inspiration from the Mediterranean, but the wood-fired ovens and spit roasters bring the great flavors to life. Wood-grilled pizza appetizers are crackly, thin and flavorful, with toppings like spit-roasted chicken with roasted peppers and sweet onions, or Italian sausage, wild mushrooms and mozzarella. Waffle-sliced potatoes topped with gorgonzola can easily satisfy four diners. For the main course, Palomino's features fresh seafood, meats seared in the hearth oven and delicious smoked rotisserie chicken seasoned with pancetta, olive oil, garlic, rosemary and lemon. Finish your meal with the rich, heavily-spiked tiramisu.

My friend and I came from out of town so we looked on CitySearch for a place to eat for dinner. After reading the many positive reviews, we thought that we found a great place to eat. We were wrong. The place is nicely decorated, but quite crowded and loud. In my opinion, our waiter was not really attentive; he seemed quite dis-interested in serving us. We ordered the crab and artichoke dip. Pretty good. My friend ordered the Kobe Beef Ravioli. It was cold. The meat seemed like it had fillers in it. The cream sauce was very watery. Even Olive Garden's is much better. I ordered the Paella. It was bland, with no flavor. I had to add a lot of salt, then some more pepper before I could eat it. Then I added Tobasco to mask the blandness. We were still hungry, so we ordered the Chocolate Torte. Not bad. Overall, I think this place is way over-priced, for below average food and service. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Save your money and go elsewhere. I've been there 3 times. Each time, they are training new servers, and they always make me feel uncomfortable when I don't order a bottle of wine. The first time I ordered a stuffed chicken dish, and it was extremely dry. Another time I ordered a scallop dish which was also quite lackluster! I had heard that the mushroom soup was to die for, but it definitely tasted like it came out of can. Not worth $4. Eating at Palominos is similar to dining at a mediocre hotel restaurant. Oh yeah, the view isn't that great either!
Cons: The food, the food, the food
