Gol Star Chili. I have been a loyal fan of Gold Star Chili for many years. I think it's the best chili in Cincinnati. Its better tasting and spicier then Skyline. Skyline has nothing on Gold Star.
This place sucks!.
I must agree with myself, Gold Star stincks. I went a second time, and the food was just horrible. The chilidog flopped in my hand and the chili just went bland. Its theese disapointments that make me say:
CAMP WASHINGTON HO!!!!!!
It'll do. The first Cincinnati chili parlor is Empress. Go there for the 'original' taste. In 100 words or less, Gold Star's taste leans more towards the meat, Skyline's taste is more towards the spice. Polarize yourself accordingly. Empress, IMO, has the best blend of the two styles, but all 3 will provide a tasty way to fill up for cheap, provided you like Cincinnati-style chili to begin with. If you don't, why waste the bandwidth here?
Worth the Trip. My daughter and husband have traveled from Ft. Stewart, Ga to Cincinnati just to have fresh Gold Star. I even shipped cans during the time my son-in-law was in Korea. It is the best.
The taste thats taking over.
Gold Star is great. The service is fast, the price is right and the food is ALWAYS good.
Gold Star wont forget your crackers and cheese!!
from a Texas chili lover. Not as good as Texas chili but much better than Skyline. Their chili dogs are great. I buy them on the way to work and reheat them in the microwave.
SKYLINE IS BETTER.. I DON'T LIKE THE SPICES THEY USE IN THEIR CHILI. SKYLINE IS MUCH BETTER.
Good Eats. Gold star is awesome chili. Spicy but not too spicy. Not as good as mine of course but I can say I eat and fix Gold Star a lot more than I do my own.
Goldstar=terrible. Gold star has no flavor at all. It is watered down and does not taste good at all. I would always pick Skyline before even setting foot in a goldstar.
eewwww...
I hate Cincinnati style Chili....it's totally sweet! Cinnamon and other sweet spice DO NOT belong in chili...YUCKO!
Apparently, you have to be a native and grow up on the stuff. Acquired taste only!
