USDA prime beef, elegant tableside service and mammoth martinis..
In Short
With its dark wood details, celebrity photos and tuxedo-clad waiters, this upscale steakhouse chain has the air of a posh men's club. Service is professional and discreet, with bartenders making a mean martini. Dinners begin with a waiter-driven cart laden with fresh vegetables, live lobster and cuts of steak; customers choose from porterhouse, rib-eye, bone-in prime rib and more. Side dishes are traditional and enormous, from baked potatoes and creamed spinach to steamed broccoli with hollandaise.
Doesn't live up to the hype..
You must judge a steakhouse by the quality of its steaks. Morton's unfortunately, doesn't live up to its reputation. The steaks are generous but cooked at too high a temperature in order to serve them quickly. This results in a steak with a cool center but a too-well-charbroiled crust. If you don't like the taste of deeply charred meat (I don't), you will not enjoy your steak, no matter what temperature you order.
Better meat preparation can be had at the Precinct, or Smith and Wollensky. I would avoid Morton's.
Morton's - A great meal!. If you appreciated good service, good meat, a good meal served properly. Than you are you will appreciate Morton's. If not, you will think it is over priced and find a litany of other things to complain about. For me, Morton's is the Steak House! The meal is always perfect. The steak can be counted on to be first class. Is this a special occasion place? Depends on your pocketbook. It is a great meal.
For that special occasion. Try the Cajun Ribeye; it's amazing! Excellent wine list, the steaks are to die for and seafood offerings are a pleasant (mouth-watering) suprise. Do not leave without enjoying a humongous "Mortini". The black and white tuxedo staff are awesome, even the valets go out of their way to make you feel welcome (often with joke, always with courtesy). Also note that since Morton's is a well-known chain, there is a high likelihood that you'll be dining next to Roger Clemens or Peyton Manning as they visit the Queen City.
The best restaurant in Cincy!. My wife and I have lived in Cincinnati since June, 2000 and Morton's is by far our favorite restaurant. We love the food (the porterhouse w/ mushrooms is a fav. or ours) and the service is top notch. On December 16, I threw a reception in honor of my wife's promotion and the evening went really well. My guests did not want for anything and the food was fantastic...We have been to the other steakhouses listed (Precinct, Jeff Ruby's, etc.) and Morton's is the best!
THe Best. lways a pleasure to dine at Mortons anywhere in the country. Cincinnati is one of my favorite spots.
7. I found it to be overpriced. Value for the buck is not as good as some others (Ruth's Chris). For these prices, I'll go to the Maisonette and get top service along with a great meal.
This Is It. If you can't go to Chicago for the real thing, Morton's of Chicago in Cincinnati is the next best thing. The absolute best steaks I have ever eaten are served in a manner that makes you feel like this is a real dining experience. Highly recommended. Make sure you take your American Express because it is not cheap.
Always Great. Morton's is always top of the line. When we want to go somewhere special this is always it. From the scallops wrapped in bacon to the key lime cheesecake everything is done to perfection!! The porterhouse is always ordered so we a have a little left to bring home and enjoy. Service is alway professional and the wine selection will satify many different tastes. This is definitely the place to go when you want to splurge!!!
awesome. I had the best Porterhouse steak that I have ever had in my life. Cooked just the way I like--medium not too done. Portions were just the right size. I can't wait for my next trip to Cincinnati just to eat at Mortons.
