What People Are Saying About Skyline Chili

In Short – Served since 1949, Skyline's version is not the thick, chunky brew that typically comes to mind when you think of chili. The sauce itself is thin with ground beef and secret seasonings that purportedly include a pinch of chocolate. The 3-way is made up of spaghetti, chili and mounds of finely grated cheddar cheese. The other signature item is the chili cheese Coney, a hot dog on a bun covered with chili, cheese, onions and mustard.
Great owner! Great Quality!

James takes his Chili seriously. His father owns the Skyline in Kenwood and their family has been assocaited with the franchise since its inception. Many of the stores in Cincinnati are corproate stores. James owns a franchise and does things a little differently. His hot dog buns are from the local Klosterman's bakery and are soft and delicous, not like the buns you often get at other stores. His steam table is truly steam powered. The new electric tables just can't compete. He trusts the prepration of the chili to his best employees to ensure your chili is never too watery or too thick. The spaghetti does not sit in a steamer all day waiting to be prepared. It is heated up only when needed and not tainted by the tomato paste of other stores. James also chops all his onions fresh, to ensure maxium flavor on the coney. Cincinnati style chili is serious business and no one takes it more seriously than James.
If you're in the Mason area and looking for the most well run Skyline, stop by the Waterpark Skyline.
- Pros: Fresh buns, fresh onions, great serive (especially at the counter)
- Cons: Store could feel more Skyline-ish!
