Pleasantly Suprised !!!! – I had dinner with family and we decided on the Spinning Fork on Rt 4 in Fairfield. My wife and I went in with in low expectations and when we got our meal we were blown away. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding, the atmosphere was quite and comfortable with an italian feel.
Family Business & Great Food without the lies – I read all of the negative wirters and for sure they work for competitors. Its real simple when they mention food that isn't even on the menu. One even gave wrong location for the Spinning Fork.
The service is always top level from the staff care about their customers and it shows.
So when you see a 500 word review you can bet its from a competitor that's hired someone. Reviews from professional areen't even that long.
Great – I love this place! Ate there today on a diet and it killed not to eat the trio.I had the sun died chicken pasta. It was very tasteful.I love non chain place
Best Italian Food in Cincinnati,Oh – Highly recommended.Ate there today 2/13/11.Food was excellent.Waitress was very pleasant and very good. Her name is Heather and i'm telling you between the quality of the food and her great service the wife and I will Definetly go back.
Bland Bland Bland – I was very disappointed with the lack of taste and texture in the food. We ordered four different meals and they were all equally bland, definitely not worth the $60 tab (not including drinks). The problem is, we really wanted to like the restaurant, as it is a local non-chain, nearby restaurant. The decor was nice, the staff disinterested, the food unpleasant.
Lovely to Look at..but don't eat here – While traveling through the area (we always visit Jungle Jim's when heading south down 75) we decided to grab a bite to eat before hitting the road again. Rather than keep searching near 75, we decided that The Spinning Fork look really cute from the outside, had a lot of cars in the parking lot and you can screw up pasta, right?
Although the decor was fresh and charming, the service wasn't very good. I am sure they were understaffed as it took quite some time for our waitress to appear, then she was less than attentive after. (We are far from demanding, having been in the food service industry before.)
Our drinks were simple: water and an Arnold Palmer. Well...the AP was made with pink lemonade.. interesting but the tea and the lemonade were a powdered mix.
Our app was the spinach artichoke dip. The garnish on top was...MINT??????? There was no flavor to the dip..no spice, no zip...nothing. I added salt...then pepper...then a ton of parm on top. Still not great. The chips they gave to use to dip with were deep fried, drippy with oil and tasted burnt. Hmmm...so far not so great service, not so great drinks, and for sure, not so great app. At this point I quipped to my husband that maybe Gordon Ramsey needed to visit. .
Surely they can't screw up pasta....
I ordered the Seafood Alfredo which stated it was made with shrimp and crab. My husband ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. My dish was plenty large enough and the sauce not too bad...although VERY familar in taste. (Out of a jar from the grocery?) The shrimp were tiny and half of them tasted fishy, but there were plenty. The crab? Hmmm...that should have read Krab on the menu as it was certainly not real and lacked flavor and was very mushy. I picked through it and traded plates with my husband.
His? Well....Ragu or Prego would have been a better sauce than the tasteless stuff on his plate. He was also supposed to have spaghetti noodles but it came out with something more like angel hair. (My husbnad does not like angel hair, not substantial enough). The meat balls reminded me of ones we had picked up at Gordon Foods a while back...and those were not very flavorful. Needless to say, neither of us even finished half our meals... and we came in starving!
On our way out my husband did mention to the cashier he was not pleased with the meal. The cashier just smiled and rang the bill up.
The funniest moment of the evening? Driving away from the restaurant and realizing there WAS a Gordon Food right next door!!!. (and later finding TONS of quality restaurants closer to 75/275!) I am 1000% certain we will not be back.
What A Shame – I usually don't like chain restaurants, but in this case I would choose about any chain Italian restaurant over the Spinning Fork. The food is terrible !
The owners either need to hire a chef or consultant or something. Great location, good service, nice atmosphere...bad food.
The Calamari seams like it is from a bag(frozen) was tasteless and over-cooked ( like rubber). The marinara sauce is from a can. My Ceasar salad had the worst tasting dressing .The chicken catchatorie( sp) was like rubber, and the pasta was old and overcooked ( like straw).
I really wanted to like this place, but was seriously dissapointed.
Pick ANY Italian restaurant , ANY, and it will have better food.
Great Authentic Italian Restaurant – We have always loved the Spinning Fork Restaurant because of it's authentic Italian food and good service. We stopped in at their new restaurant last week with some friends. The service was great, the food was very good but the portions we received were extremely small. The piece of lasagne was so small it wouldn't fill up a child's appetite . The spaghetti was the same way. Portions were so small we left hungry, hence the 3 star rating. We love the Spinning Fork and will give it another try and hope the portions are larger.
Bad food, average service – We went to the Spinning Fork, and sat down rather quickly but had to wait for our server. We finally ordered our drinks and our food at the same time. We ordered spaghetti with marinara for two of the kids and chicken fingers for the other. I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo and my husband ordered the spaghetti with Italian sausage.
The breadsticks were stale, they were awful. The salads were barely there, only lettuce and cheese and very little lettuce at that and although my husband ordered it without cheese...it came with cheese. When we finally received our dinners I was extremely disappointed with my portion, I assumed for what I payed I would be able to take at least a little home, I wasn't very hungry, but the portion was smaller then the children's spaghetti. My husband's spaghetti was awful, it had very little flavor and the sausage was amazingly bad. The kids food was good, and the portions were good for them, but they were a bit expensive for children's spaghetti at such a mediocre place. Our server was slow, didn't collect our plates when we were finished and had someone else drop off our bill because she left (we saw her walk out before our bill was returned to us).
All in all we wished we had gone elsewhere, even Perkins would have been better (and cheaper), we will never go back!
Best family Italian Restaurant in Greater CIncinnati. – The Spinning Fork is a wonderful family restaurant. The service is always excellent and attentive. Our out of town relatives always have us take them there for their spaghetti sauce. The house salad dressing is so good that it's the only restaurant where I don't order Bleu Cheese dressing. In terms of qualtiy for the price, this is one place where you will feel you definitely got your money's worth.
