The chicest hot dog joint you'll ever find. Grab and Old Fashioned from the bar and dog into the amazing duck fat fries followed by the Asian-inspired Hello Kitty dog.
Very delicious.. I have been here 4 times and every time I have enjoyed it. I have never had a bad experience with the staff and pleases support Over the Rhine businesses. Very good, you won't regret it!
Long wait, but good.
I must agree with the previous review... The staff is not the most friendly and when putting your name on the waiting list, at times the rolling of the eyes is followed with the wait time - usually 1-2 hours even when you arrive after 8p.
I suggest going to other restaurants or bars in the area while you wait. This way you can be out of the way and you can at least receive a drink.
The first time I was there, the wait was over hours - so we ended up going to Jeff Ruby's rather than waiting. We received a phone call when we finished our cocktails, dinner, and dessert, saying our table would be ready in 10 minutes. We declined the need and finished our meal at Rubys.
So with the first attempt a complete fail, we tried again, this time almost a year later hoping things would be a little less crowded - not really the case. The wait time was 1 hour and a half. When we received the phone call from the hostess, we walked back over to be seated. The space is extremely tight and really not made for the number of people who dine there. In winter time, you might want to leave your coat in the car since there is no where to put it. Also, you'll meet new friends as you'll have no choice but to sit very close to the table next to you... Then there's the food. It's really good and they are known for their hot dogs. They put a great twist on the standard hot dog and I suggest having everyone order something different for sharing. Their apps are really good and the mac and cheese is a must order. I suggest at least once making the trip. (Just make sure you're in the mood to wait, sit close to strangers, and see a few eyes roll when you ask a question).
Feel like being insulted before you even sit down to eat?.
Then this is place for you.
In all fairness I can not really comment about the food at the Senate because I never even got a chance to taste it. Before I could even get to my table I had one of the employees jump down my throat for standing at the door while I was waiting on my table and it just went done hill from there. After a really long week the last thing I want to do is get in confrontation with anyone. I just want a drink and some good food. Instead I get condescended to and insulted as I try to get these needs met. Maybe as a black woman I am being a little too sensitive but frankly I really don't think so. I think it is unacceptable for ANYONE to be disrespected in an establishment that they are spending their hard earned money. Apparently The Senate is doing such good business after a couple of months that they no longer feel it necessary to be polite to customers. Oh well there are lots of other restaurants downtown that don't mind taking my money. Eat there at your own risk. I really hope you aren't subjected to the same service I was.
