Asian purgatory. What started as a festive evening was quickly doused when seated under a poorly regulated vent which blew cold, then warm air on us cyclically. Management couldn't or wouldn't help out with this...but we ordered and thatswhere the real trouble unfolded. The hot stuff came cold, soup came with a teaspoon. Food came out after about 1 hour in waves as i watched other tables seated after us eating and being given their checks. Pad thai was tasteless, and cold. The teriyaki chicken was rubbery and inedible. And although they replaced it with another dish...it was hastily and tastelessly put together. The waiter must have recognized the calamity, because the manager finally arrived with a stunning declaration..."i am going to take 10% off this bill because you didn't eat a thing" Whoa, what a guy. Listen...i am not going to rail on this restaurant, or the server, or chef, or management any further...Just don't go there. Go down the street to beluga, go to noodles, go to mcdonalds....just don't go THERE!
Holy terrible experience!!!.
This was a terrible experience; not only will I never go back, I will tell anyone with self respect interested what terrible service they have and to not bother going. So we order part of our food, after specifically mentioning how hungry I am and how I need food quickly, & then order the rest when we decide so that we can get the seaweed salad & sushi first. We wait a long time after we complete our order. Long enough for another table to be seated, have their order taken and their food served. During which, much of the time, our seaweed salad & sushi was sitting on the sushi bar hanging out.
Our server is too busy completing her side work to deliver our food. After more than 15 minutes later, while our food is sitting out on the bar in the open restaurant swarming with flies, I eventually walked up and quietly asked if the seaweed salad was ours and if I could take it. I can't say if that is what upset our server, Ellen, or what the exact problem was, but from that point on she refused to speak to us & basically threw the remaining ordered food on the table. We never had our drinks refilled & had to ask for chopsticks, side plates, pickled ginger, etc. It was incredible & astonishing. At he end, we were even over charged. The manager (Tim) must have overheard us discussing it, or someone notified him we might be unhappy, I don't know, because he magically appeared without our asking to speak to him. He insisted that Ellen had worked there a long time, defended her behavior (having also claimed to not see it), & claimed she never had had a complaint. If that is true, she should probably know something about the food being served.
The sushi was O.K., but not good and certainly not great. The House Pad Thai was flavorless & weird. Having been trained in Thai cooking in Thailand, this was probably the worst Thai food I have ever eaten: at least the least authentic. The fried tofu was gross. Construction inside also weird.
Beware of customer service. I had a horrible dining experience at this restaurant. The food was good; however, if you have any issues with your order...you can forget about it! They are reluctant to take anything back and will make you feel like an idiot in the process. It's just not a pleasant experience. I would recommend spending your money at the many other asian restaurants in Hyde Park/Mt Lookout if you want a pleasurable and relaxing dinner experience.
Great Food. I went a little after lunch. Although small, there was enough privacy for me and my girlfriend to gab. The food was awesome, the lunch prices are great, and I obsessively order their takeout (after the dining experience). Just be careful of the chai tea because when they say it's sweet they mean it!
What's in my food?. I have been to Wild Ginger twice. The food is very good but my recent experience left a bad or "spearmint" taste in my mouth. I recieved my dinner and found a Trident wrapper in my food. I point out the problem and was given a new meal. However, no manager came to apologize to me or my party about the problem. Then when the bill arrived I my meal was still there and no discount was given by the waiter for the mistake. I will not lie, the food at Wild Ginger is good. However, the apathy demonstrated by both the managerial staff and wait staff has tleft a me with a foul taste of Wild Ginger (even with the spearmint flavor).
I found Solid Thai Food in Cincinnati!!!!. First time at Wild Ginger - from the first step in the mood was set right - Contemporary Asian decor greets you, giving an almost soothing feeling-comfy chairs a well. Waitress was very attentive(even though it was very busy and crowded)as were the other staff. Started with fried tofu and chiken satay - very good. Fiance and I both ordered the house pad thai - one with shrimp, other with beef - VERY GOOD...was not made with peanut sauce is traditional, but their own spin was very good- fresh ingredients, made to order. Overall we were pleased with the atmosphere, food and thought the prices were very reasonable for the high quality of the environment and the food. We will be back!
