Editorial Review for South Beach Grill - The Waterfront – by Juliana Gray Vice
In Short
Between the pink and purple lights, music from the piano bar and view of the downtown Cincinnati skyline, the decor at South Beach Grill can't be called subdued. But as Ruby has proven before, he knows steak, and he combines that expertise with a lavish attention to seafood. Diners start with sushi, a chilled lobster martini or crab cake appetizer before moving on to big, beautiful hunks of meat like the 16oz center cut filet.

I took 4 family members here, $200 plus bill. Two of the orders were good. But 2 of the orders were close to unedible. I ordered medium rare steak. It came out not only well done, and not only overly blackened, but burned like a firetorch. So hard and dry it it was inedible. My mother's light fish came with a peck or carrots, and at least a large cup of extremely sweet sauce, it was horrible. I put the orange sauce on the steak so it didn't siphon my mouth completely dry. I will not be going back to any of ruby's places.
Pros: nice location
Cons: stuffy service, wildly varying food quality

Waterfront is absolutely 5 star, PERIOD! Four of us came in from out of town, made reservation morning of, and were given excellent window seating. Service was completely professional and totally excellent. Our Surf and Turfs were superb, and the 16 oz filet was unbelievable! Everything was perfectly cooked. Piano bar area is a bit loud, but across in the restaunt half it wasnt noticable. The restauraunt offered an excellent wine list. Oh yeah, the sushi boat starter was exceptional. Bananna cream pie and creme bruleh were also outstanding! It is pricey dinner, expect to drop $50 per person minimum, but it is worth every penny. I would say this was one of the finest dinners I've ever had. Oh yeah....the view is really nice too :)
Pros: Great view of Cincy Skyline, Exceptional Food, Great Sushi
Cons: None except I cant afford to eat like this every week!
