Peanut Butter Pie. i moved up from Louisville a couple years ago....since then...i bring all my Louisville friends to the anchor for the good ole anchor special and peanut butter pie. also....might i suggest the cottage cheese and pickles.....AMAZING. great place to people watch.....great place to eat at late night....food is what it is...if you are trying to watch your weight or have a certain diet...they probably will not cater to you very well....but this is covington....the land of a thousand mullets....stretch pants....stone washed jordache jeans with the hi top white reeboks...make that two velcro straps if you please.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Sitting around for 20 minutes in a tiny hallway before getting a table filled with food on it from someone else, we were finally given a table cleared off by another CUSTOMER. Another 20 minutes later, that same CUSTOMER served us drinks. When the waitress finally came, she told me I was lying about being there that long and demanded an order with a huge attitude. We waited another 40 minutes for any type of change and never saw the waitress again, then decided to leave. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. THIS PLACE RUINS LIVES.
Great dive, the food is good and cheap....... try the goetta!!!.
Whenever we are in the Cincy area, usually for baseball or shows at Southgate House, my group and I always head over to the Anchor for breakfast/lunch before heading home to Chicago. I love places that you can walk into and know it 's exactly the same way it was 50 years ago. I always order the goetta, a dish that can only be found in that region of Ohio/Kentucky. You can order it on it's own or inside an omlette.
The prices are dirt cheap too!
If you like authentic old-timey, greasy spoon diners, make sure to stop here if you are in the area.
Insect Salad. I recently visited the Anchor Grill at 1 AM on Friday evening. The place is dirty in the extreme. I ordered a salad and found insects in it. When I complained the salad was replaced but there was no appology from the staff. This makes the second time in five visits that I found filth in the food that was served to me. My iced tea was spoiled and it too had to be replaced. The wait staff are vile and treat the customers with little respect. I have seen them throw out more than one guy for nothing more than being slightly drunk. I am finished with this place. Taco Bell is open late and its food is safe to eat.
On every party animal's to-do list for a late-night meal after the bars close..
The Skinny
This dive is open 24-hours a day, seven days a week, and is best enjoyed during the wee hours when it doesn't seem quite as seedy. At the Anchor Grill, waitresses call you "honey" while serving you breakfast, sandwiches or dessert. It's classic short-order cooking. Why go to a chain when you can experience a diner with character?
The Mood
Each booth features a jukebox. Pop in a quarter to play your songs, and to activate the dancing Barbie diorama.
Go for the food... not the ambience....
This is a great place to catch lunch or a late night snack. Great burgers and onion rings among other things. Open 24/7 so anytime will do...
Just try it!
Fantastic smoke-filled dive! Great food!.
Excellent food if you don't mind the "older", smok-filled decor. Every kind of person can be accommodated with a fantastic meal. The breakfast is unbelievable, EXTREMELY cheap and available anytime.
Why go to White Castle at 3AM when you can have a pleasant and affordable breakfast at Anchors.
If you hate smoke....don't go! =)
