Jag's Faking it as a Steakhouse.
All around disappointment. This is one of the best examples of small time trying to be big time I have experienced lately. The service at the bar was horrible with the exception of the one girl who was doing everyones job. It would take me way to long to write out all the issues they are listed below.
Nearly 10 ten minuets for first drink order
Bartender never came back for dinner order
Pre cooked warmed over bread
The first useless bartender ate her dinner out of containers from home in front of patrons
Food felt like it came off a hot table
Never brought me a check
And how could I leave out that the entertainment practiced for ten minuets over the background music.
Poor Service--Long wait!.
I would NOT recommend Jag’s for a fine dining restaurant for any special event. When making my reservation via XXXX online service clearly noted that we would like a quiet table, not sitting on top of other parties for an anniversary.
Our party of 4 arrived at 8:00 PM for an 8:15 reservation, upon our check in we had been advised that our table would be ready for our 8:15 PM reservation and at which time we had been directed to the back bar. At approx 8:20 PM I inquired as to the status of the table and was advised that it would be another 5-10 minutes. Again at 8:45 PM I inquired again was advised that tables are still not available and they would come to the bar to get us shortly. At 9:00 PM I inquired again and was advised by the manager this time that the table is still not available, will be shortly, and that would like to buy us (2 adults) a round of drinks. Finally at 9:15 PM (1 hour late) they sat us.
They sat us in a room at a table stuffed in a corner next to a table of 12-14 people. The noise level was so load that even our server commented about it. Due to the timing we requested to place our orders immediately, which included a salad and main course dish. After 30 minutes we inquired as to the status of our main course and was advised that it would be our shortly. At 9:45 PM I requested that they move us to another table due to the unacceptable noise level, we could not hear each other speak (the restaurant dining areas was starting to clear out in the next room). At 10:00 PM I inquire again on the status of the main dish and was advised that it would be out in 5-10 minutes, I stated at this point we have be waiting over 45 minutes for our main dish! Was advised that the kitchen was busy and they are sorry!
On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest), I would rate Jag’s a 2! Management did not care that our special evening which was ruined by lack of caring and overall poor service! Not sure if they could fit another table in most rooms without a shoe horn!
For this type of service and environment I would recommend that you go to one of the local area sports bars (BW3 just down the street).
For local fine dining I would recommend MESH right down the road!
Great wine! Terrific food! Fabulous service!. Just moved to town & went to Jag's on a recommendation from our realtor....we were not disappointed. We did not have reservations, but got a great seat in the bar area. The waitress had a great recommendation for our wine. We had a filet and sea bass...fabulous. Everything about our evening was fantastic, topped off by the warm fireplace on a snowy evening. Will definitely dine there again.
Wasn't really there to eat, but for the nightclub...
After leaving Mesh on Friday night 5/25/07,we went to Jags to see what was going on. It was just okay. The live band was fantastic, and featured an extremely talented lead singer, who also played trumpet and percussion. The rest of the musicians were great as well.
It was a middle to upper middle aged mostly white crowd who were really having a great time on the dance floor and enjoying one another.
Being one of the few non-white couples there, we still enjoyed ourselves.
The only annoyance was a group of young black guys standing around all wearing their little Fedora, while holding up the walls and staring down people looking woefully outta place there. They were obviously there to pick up white girls, even if there wasn't much to choose from on nearly every level. :)
I heard some cool things about Jags, but it must have been geriatric night cause I wasn't feeling it. If it wasn't for the band, we woulda left waay sooner.
Jags is not for young (25-40) urban hip working class professionals who wants to chill with their same demographic. (unless you're a scrub who wants to try to score older white women)
This luxurious West Chester restaurant offers a broad menu of meticulously-prepared fare..
Everything is done just right: eager valets out front, six distinctive, elegant dining rooms and an impressive menu. This is how a deluxe American restaurant should be. The chef artfully prepares an assortment of sumptuous meat and fish delicacies. Famous for being the only Cincinnati restaurant to serve Kobe beef, the menu also offers a raw bar, Chilean sea bass and many types of steak. A highlight of the dessert menu is the homemade lavender-honey gelato.
Best steak in town. I was invited to Jag's by several friends and dined there on a Saturday in December. We had a party of 6 and we were seated promptly at a nice table in the corner of the room. The waiter definitely knew what what he was doing, recommendations were right on but he didn't "hover' around the table. I had a Filet Mignon, I can't recall a better steak anywhere. All the seafood was great. Nice wine list. Better prices than Jeff Ruby's places. It's my new favorite steakhouse.
Not what it was built up to be. Coat attendant was nowhere to be found, when we were seated, the server told us one of two specials. when we over heard the other special and the chef's recommendations we wanted to change. My raw oysters were severed without a seafood fork, the lobster was over cooked as was the steak that my wife ordered. The steamed beans were burnt as well. When we were leaving, once again, the coat attendant was nowhere to be found. Jeff Ruby's, we can't wait to come back!
Excellent service and terrific meal. My husband and I dined at Jag's restaurant because we had been given a gift certificate. And boy, were we happy that we went. It was totally awesome!!! The service/waitress was spectacular. She was always there when you needed her and the food was out of this world. It's hard to find wonderful steaks out in a restaurant anymore but they have done it! I suggest you try it sometime!
Atmosphere?. Jags left my wife and I disappointed. The bar and service was very good. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. The food was excellent, we enjoyed the raw bar, appetizer, and entrees (filets). The disappointment came from the atmosphere, we were seated in a room that already contained a group of 10, which was followed within 30 minutes by a group of 12. Unfortunately, this made having a conversation at our table impossible - the manager offered to quiet the other groups (please! very patronizing) and then offered free dessert (did not take up this offer). The sound level approximated Chuck E. Cheese which I remember well when my children were young.
Noisy, Bad Service, Poor Management. I went to Jags a couple of weeks ago after hearing a mixed bag of reviews, some people like Jags, some do not. After arriving and being seated in one of the 6 rooms, the manager seated a group of 20 obnoxious people in the same room. They yelled over each other most of the night. After complaining to the manager, he told us to call him directly to get better seating next time. THERE WILL NOT BE A NEXT TIME. Other people in the room got up and left, they were smart. Our wine glasses stood empty and it seemed more hillbilly than fine dining, I should have know when 3/4 of the people in the room were drinking Bud Light out of the bottle. Appetizer order was wrong, they corrected. Food was ok, but nothing special for the price. I would go elsewhere for fine dining.
