In Short – With dozens of locations spread across most of the country, this faux-roadhouse chain has become a dependable spot for families in search of a casual spot for affordable steaks and down-home comfort fare. The playful menu is dotted with kid-friendly titles (chicken "critters," "road kill" chopped sirloin) and options (add caramel and marshmallow to a baked sweet potato for a dollar). In-house hand-cut steaks come in a plethora of cuts and sizes.

Good Food, Beware the Service

by tekgreg at Citysearch

Food is good but expensive, with a meal for two with drinks running $60 without tip - hardly what you would term a "family value." The volume level is always so loud that you can't hear yourself think and have to shout just to be heard by those at your table. Service is a toss-up, sometimes good, but when it's bad, it's very bad. We were seated right behind the hostess booth last night and immediately they lengthened two tables into the aisle, blocking off the only aisle access and fire exit. A rash of waiters, waitresses and customers interrupted our meal to talk to the hostesses and had no apology for doing so. Our waitress was unfamiliar with basic menu etiquette and kept getting our requests wrong all night long. Finally, at the end of the meal, instead of a request for more drinks, or coffee, or dessert, a register tape with a cheap Bic pen attached was dropped in the middle of the table - apparently, we were being dismissed. We quickly packed up, attempted to force our way down the blocked aisle and left. For this price level, I am expecting more than I would from a wait person at Denny's or IHOP. These people should actually be trained on when to return to a table when the customer has asked for more time to look at the menu (Hint: It's not three times while they're still looking at it). And as customers, if we allow this kind of treatment and then pay a premium price for it, more is the shame on us.
