Too expensive, and the food has gone
downhill since the remodel.

2nd or 3rd favorite!.
I can't decide if this is the 2nd best for pulled pork or 3rd in my opinion. I like the portions better at "Walts" than "Pit to Plate",but I think the meat is just a bit better at "PTP. You pay a little more here but leave with a full belly. The sides are about the same. You will never leave unsatisfied from "Walts". The new building is pretty nice too.

OK food.
This was the second time I went to Walt's and while the fries were ok, the pulled chicken left something to be desired. Some of the meat was crunch and over cooked. The bread was soggy. And the sandwich was messy. The chicken was dry as well. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't worth the money I paid for it.

Best BBQ N of Memphis.
Walt's has the best BBQ north of Memphis and east of Kansas City! I personally love the pulled chicken. I had the beef briskey tonight and it was kind of fatty. It would be much better if they trimmed the fat off before they cooked it.
The price is very reasonable. It is a great atmosphere for families and kids. Walt asks that you sign his walls to let him know that you were there. You can also purchase his customized t-shirts.

Nasty BBQ--- TONS OF FAT IN THE BRISKET!!!.
I read these other reviews & made a trip out to the other side of the world for BBQ- what a huge disappoinment- fat,fat fat- thats all we received. they didn't even trim the brisket- the surly employees didn't care & the restaurant bathrooms were nasty dirty- dont go- if you do I warned you! I dont mind paying good money for BBQ but I work to damn hard to earn a buck for fat!

OMG wonderful!.
I just went in and boy was I shocked...it's HUGE now. I must have blinked and missed out on the construction, but they have a bar - some more foods on the menu and it's so much more spacious. The brisket is still amazing, as always I pull in knowing what I want [ brisket, sweet potatoes, green beans & cornbread], only now I had more choices. The girls were nice and Walt still comes out of the kitchen to talk and actually remembered my kids name...things like this keep me coming again and again.

my new favorite place to eat!.
I ate at Walts this past Sunday. I have lived in the area for about six months and I am kicking myself for not discovering this place sooner! I ordered the ribs which were perfect! We're talking falling off the bone good! The sauce choices may be more developed since earlier posts because they had a spicy sauce that grew in intensity the more I ate it. Not hot but it did get my sinus cavities to open up a bit. They had a sweet barbecue sause and a vinegar mustard sauce that I think you will find in the Carolinas. They were all good. My sides were mac n cheese and baked beans both really good oh and cornbread delicous. The staff were real friendly and I will be back regularly. I came upon this review while searching on line for a carry out menu and decided to go through the trouble of registering and writing a review because I was so happy with this place!

If you taste it, you will LOVE it!!.
I go to Walt's all the time. My favorite is the 3 pigs, especially the brisket. Their menu is extensive, pork, chicken, beef, stew, salad, anything you can ask for in a barbeque resturaunt. No sauce is applied to the meat which is what I love, you have your own choice of amount and type (sweet, spicey, or mustard). The list of sides goes on for miles, excellent steak fries, mac and cheese and the sweet potatoes are to die for. If you want a side/dessert, that's what you need to try. The service is always fast and friendly, getting to know each customer and treating them like great friends. I hear they are opening a new, bigger resturaunt in the same location soon and I can't wait to see the outcome. Definately on my "top places to eat" list. If you want high quality barbeque, you need to check out Walt's.
