Traumatizes Children
by KPKPKP
The first thing I will say is that if you want your child to have a major lifelong fear of the dentist, Dr. Gordon is the dentist to take them to! I took my son to Dr. Gordon in Maineville for a few years for his regular checkups. I thought he would be a good dentist to take him to because he works with handicapped kids. My son isn't handicapped but I believed he would be gentle and talk my son through the visit. At the beginning of our first visit, I had to sign a form stating that Dr. Gordon may need to use devices such as mouth clamps, arm/leg straps, etc. I thought it was odd, but I signed it anyway. Every time my son went in for his regular cleanings, Dr. Gordon would use a mouth clamp on my son. My son would cry and choke when he used the clamp. The last visit we went to, Dr. Gordon had one of his assistants hold his face still, another assistant hold his legs, and he made me hold his arms all while he is sobbing uncontrollably! I felt awful! After he was done with the cleaning, he had the nerve to state that my son needs to be checked out for behavioral issues. Well of course he has issues...you've traumatized him! Dr. Gordon had my son so fearful to go in for a checkup that I couldn't even mention that he was going to the dentist without him sobbing uncontrollably. We now go to Dr. Gennantonio (he's AWESOME!) and he and his staff take the time to talk my son through the procedures and make him feel at ease. Dr. Gennantonio is so good, he doesn't have to use a clamp. Imagine that!
- Pros: NONE
- Cons: Rude, doesn't know how to interact with kids, rough

We only went to Dr. Gordon b/c he was the only pediatric dentist in our network within 50 miles! My son was 3 when we started going to Dr. Gordon and has sensory issues along with an extreme phobia of any type of doctor. He is scared to death anytime we are in a Dr. office. When we first went to Dr. Gordon he told us our son needed dental work and that he would have to be hospitalized b/c he was so young and wouldnt sit still it ended up costing us over $700! In addition he has a horrible bed side manner he didnt talk to my son and try to ease him through this scary experience he just pulled his mouth back and started working, my husband who took him even said that he knew it had to be scary for a 3 year old. Then just this past week my son had to be hospitalized AGAIN for more dental work and he put two silver caps on my son 2 teeth in the front of his mouth! He did put a white covering over the front but you can still see the silver by his gum line and it makes it look like his teeth are dead! I pay all this money for my son to have a good smile not for him to be a target for kids to make fun of him. I have paid close to 2k on his teeth already at the age of 4 I certainly would have paid a little extra for the white caps they have now. Some told me to get a 2nd opinion when they found out how much money we were spending but now that I have read the rest of these reviews we definantly will get a 2nd opinion!
Worst Dentist Ever (my opinion)

I would not recommend Dr. Gordon,
My daughter who was 7 at the time had to have silver crowns put on her teeth for 2 cavities. Dr. Gordon started working on her and she was not all the way numb, so she started crying, and he told her to shut up, then he started to put the crown on and she started screaming and trying to get away, because she was in so much pain, and he had his assistant come in and hold her down, and told her to shut up or he was going to kick her out of the room, while he hammered the crown on her tooth!
She would not eat and all she did was cry for 2 weeks after that, in pain with her mouth, so I took her to see her pediatrician who had to put her on a antibiotic mouth wash, and referred her to see a new dentist!
The new dentist had to scrap cement out from under her gums, which was causing the infection, and making it swollen, and red! We were told by the new dentist that she is lucky she will not have permanent gum damage, since he ripped the gum trying to make the cap fit!
My daughter is not handicap, and he was very rude to her, makes me wonder what he does with other children who can not speak there minds, since he states he is great with mentally and physically handicap kids! That?s one of the reasons I went to him, because I figured if he had patience to work with them, then he could handle my 7 year old daughter!
