The largest municipal park in the United States at 1,469 acres, it originated as a Cincinnati Park Board purchase in 1911, starting the first municipal reforestation project in the US. The park is a destination for Hamilton County suburbanites making use of its 23 picnic areas, three forest lodges, 14 miles of hiking trails, 16 miles of bridle trails and cross-country skiing in the winter. There's also an 18-hole disc golf course.
